Sponoring with maiden name or married name?

I am sposoring my husband, since we got married I have not changed the name in my passport to my married name. Should I therefore use my maiden name on all forms where it indicates "family name"? Or am I ok putting my married name even though this differs from my passport.

There is no requirement for you, as the sponsor, to submit your passport (or a copy of it, even) to CIC, so you can use your new name (which is your legal name) for the sponsorship paperwork. If you were the applicant, you would have to apply using your maiden name, if that was the name still on your passport.

Thanks, however all my ID (including passport) that proves I am a canadian citizen are in my Maiden name - hence the question. I have decided to play it safe and fill out all aplications with my maiden name in line with the copy of my passport I am sending.

As I can see in checklists both for a sponsor and a sponsored person - in both of them the copy of your passport is required.

You must use the last name that is in your ID. If you have not changed your name legally to your married name, then of course DO NOT use it in your sponsorship application. CIC is not interested in whether you have or have not changed your last name to your husband's name. It has no bearing on your case. Many people do not change their name to their husband's name.

Just to clarify, you do not have to send a copy of your passport. Check the document checklist where it says that the sponsor needs to send a copy of their PR card or COPR or citizenship card or citizenship certificate (before 1977) or your Canadian passport.
