hey all,

so if one does soft landing, as the residency requirements are quite high to not only obtain but maintain eligibility for a health plan, is it better to apply for the cover before leaving or after returning to Canada, and why?

ALso, if one applies upon returning to Canada for good, is it ok to move to Quebec soon after?

TIA

In most provinces you are not able to apply for health coverage right after you land. In some that you are there is a residency requirement. You need to apply when you return permanently.

You are not eligible to apply for health coverage until you permanently move to a province.

Yes I am aware of the 3 month waiting time for the health cover to kick in, my question was relating to just the application for it. Any ideas?

You can't apply for health coverage until you actually move to Canada.
