I think it doesn't mean physical files pile up on the table. I think after initial assessment each file is coded and categorized in different sections waiting to final review. For examples, files that are decided to go quick go to "6 months" section, and files that are decided to go slow go to "20 months" section, or files that are decided to be interviewed go to "interview" section, and from there files are solved in their own order. That explains some cases go to final review very quick after initial assessment and some cases have to wait like my case.

On my GCMS notes, I saw my initial assessment done in September 2012, then my file is just sitting there the whole year until now to wait for final review.

Of course these are just my speculation about the way they do, I may be wrong.
Hi Alittlewave, I have been with my wife for 13 years since high school and we have pictures throughout the years. I am not sure if there should be any delay when the only purpose for spouse sponsorship is to prove if the relationship is genuine. These officers are just taking their time due to lack of people, tons of applications, time to process one application, too many fraud applications, taking applications from too many countries (Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Iran, Cambodia, Indonesia, etc.) and so on. If I were the officer, I would be so fed up too lol.

Your explanation about the cases grouping totally make sense. I would add the human factor in the file processing as well as not all officers are the same. What is your officer's code? To avoid google search we can space their codes but not in one word (Mine is K C 0 18 24).

What is the status of Singapore VO ? Are they on strike ? Is there any improvement on process times as of late or are we all still in a SVO limbo ??

That's super generous from visa officer side! I don't know that we could apply for multiple entry visa, so now I know :). My wife's visa will be expired 6 months from now, but I think the period we are allowed to stay will be determined by the landing officer. Between, how do you know it's multiple entry visa? It doesn't show on my wife's visa if it's single or multiple though.
Actually this is the 3rd time I got Canada tourist visa. The first 2 times are single entry visas, and I go and come back within visa duration.

That's why they are very generous to me this 3rd time.

It does show on the visa. On the second line of the visa you can see "No of ENTRIES". If it shows "ONE", it means single entry. Mine is "MULTIPLE".

i cant believe mine is exactly same as urs..according to my gcms notes.my wifes file went to singapore in june..initial assessment was done in september with "recommend passed" and noted saying "no concerns found" file ready for officers review and decision

anyway would u please check ur notes and see the section which says application assignment ..and check the visa officer code..iam pretty sure we should have the same one ...

Actually after a lot of research and analysis which i did with other people who also applied for gcms..i have noticed that after the initial screening..the final assessment time line depends on the visa officer.some take as small as 2 to. 6 months but some takes the advantage of the 26 months timeline...

I have noticed that the visa officer
code which i saw in my gcms notes..the other forum member with the same visa officer code..either they have been waiting like me or their file was touched for final review after 22 months and over..but the files r finalized in 26 months thou...makes sense?

It was first done by C T 0 1 8 2 8, and then was assigned to A G 0 0 8 9 4. If we have the same code, it may mean we are grouped in the same section, and very badly this section is extremely slow.

Wow, I cannot believe it. Somehow my guess is right, isn't it? Your friend who has the same code and was finalized in 26 months. Did he/she have to be interviewed or just wait the whole 26 months?

Hi Semlay, When did you get your PPR? Are you expecting PP through VFS? If yes, when did you send the passport to SVO? please share your info with us.
