Hi everyone,

Im sending an extra paper (my FBI fingerprints I have been waiting for) to the same office where I already sent my application. Is there any specific way to do this? I was thinking of just including the paper, along with a copy of the receipt. Any other tips?

Thanks, Una

You don't sent the fingerprints to the visa office, you send the FBI clearance letter (which is printed on special paper so that if you photocopy it, you see "unauthorized copy" as the watermark.)

In sending it, my recommendation would be to send it via courier (or at least certified/registered mail) along with a cover letter containing your file number. If you don't have your file number, you can use your UCI (if you do have that). Otherwise, hold onto the letter until you have that information - it's far too likely to get lost otherwise.

Send it to the visa office, get a receipt for it's delivery and report it to them via e-mail (or the web form reporting system.)

Thanks,

Yes, I did not send the fingerprints to the visa office, I sent it to FBI and then I received the clearance letter which is what I was about to send. But I don´t have a file number yet, so it sounds like I should wait. My only concern was that they won´t process my application (and send me a file number) untill they receive this paper. But I definitely would rather wait if you think they will still send me the file number without the FBI letter?

In my experience, and based upon reading the experience of others, they will ASK you for the FBI clearance letter if it isn't in your file already.

I suspect they don't even look through your application before assigning you a file number. Has your sponsor been approved yet? Generally the Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) arrives 2-6 weeks after your sponsor is approved, and that will have your file number.

Good luck!
