My aim is to obtain information for a Portuguese citizen currently working as a long haul truck driver. He signed a two year contract with the Yanke group of companies 2 months ago and is currently living in Regina, Saskatchewan.
He wants to bring his wife ASAP and have her remain in Canada for as long as he remains too. She is also a citizen of Portugal, who has been living in Spain for the past few years.
My questions are:
- How long can she stay in Canada?
- Portugal is visa-exempt. Can she simply fly in as a tourist and take care of the legalities while already in Canada? This appears to be the ideal solution since she could almost immediately reunite with him
- Is it enough for her to buy a one-way ticket?
- What documents must she provide upon landing?
- Do she need to be sponsored, or is it enough to present a marriage certificate in English along with a copy of the work permit.
- Can she work in Canada? And, does she need an LMO or a work permit to do so?
