Hello,

I'm new to this forum, but a Canadian citizen and terminally in love with a US citizen who plead no contest to a DUI just about 5 years ago. I have all the qualifications to sponsor him (in QC, let alone Canada) - we are dreadfully in love and eager to get the ball rolling once we are married. I would love for him to be here by October this year at the very latest.

Does anyone have any experience with these type of issues? Will it be a holdup? If it's of any worth, we'll be living in metropolitan Montreal and we won't own a car at all, plus he has no repeat offenses nor violent convictions whatsoever. I just don't want to start planning for him to be here this fall if that isn't feasible...

Many thanks in advance, so very grateful,

phel

Most likely this will cause complications but most importantly you have to make sure the incident was more than 5 years ago. It it has been over 5 years, she should be able to apply for Rehabilitation but you're probably looking at a longer than usual processing times. When are you looking to apply?
