Glad to finally see people from Central America! So you are one of the first Central Americans I see that are already applying at BIQ Mexico city. What is your AOT? How long did it take you to receive your first AOR ? Let's all hope BIQ Mexico is faster than Guatemala for processing.
Hi Master 7,

I didn't really apply in BIQ Mexico. I was living in the US when I sent my application to Quebec but they forwarded it to Mexico.
Sent my application on Aug-08 to Quebec but I received an email on Nov-27 from Mexico BIQ that my application had been received buy they couldn't process my payment (CC got cloned so it got cancelled); however, they did not send my application back, instead they accepted the application, gave the dossier number and asked me to update my info.

I send my new CC info, it was received on the Dec-10 and I got the confirmation Dec-21. So it took them about 2 weeks to process the new info.

They seem to be processing things fast and I like the fact they are using email instead of regular mail.

my AOT is U074 Business Administration,

URGENT HELP PLEASE

Hello seniors,

My Quebec Skilled Worker application was received by BIQ Hongkong in 3rd September 2012. Till now I haven't received the Acknowledge of Receipt.

The enclosed bankdraft will expire on 9th January 2013. It means if BIQ won't cash it before 9 Jan or I won't cancel it before 1st Jan, the bankdraft will be useless and I will lose all the money ( 906 CND ).

BIQ replied that "In reply to your fax dated 2012.12.20 concerning the expiry date of your submitted cheque, please note that your file is still waiting for processing and il will take quite a time. Kindly be patient. If your cheque is expired at the moment we cash it, we will return it to you for renewal by the post. It's your choice to cancel the cheque now or to wait for the return of cheque later"

Please advise me what to do. Should I cancel the cheque now and buy a new one (which would cost me another $100), OR withdraw my Quebec application and apply for Federal in May 2013 ?

Thank you very much for your advice.

Hello,

According to my experience with BIQ, don't let them return back ur application.

You can still save it, inform them that you are going to cancel, repay and resend the cheque again. doing so
you will save your current file number. I believe that they will understand well the reason, they will not put it back.

Meanwhile you can inform them the limited time it gonna take you. maybe one week if you are going to use DHL, UPS or EMS, FedEx ....

Hope this help.

Good luck!

Dear DebR,
Thanks again for sharing your tips on temporary accommodation. After active research, I followed your advice and booked with Berri Suites, because they offer lowest rates and central location. Besides, other providers either did not reply to my e-mails or do not have online booking. So thanks a lot :D

If i visit quebec while my application is in process, will i get points/benefit. Like adaptability points. my cousin is get married, and i might think of going to canada for attending. so was thinking if that can solve dual purpose.

No you will not have difficulty getting visa, because visa is processed by the Canadian visa office while CSQ is processed by Quebec BIQ - these are different structures. I got visitor visa with no problem, and the form did not even ask whether I have a CSQ application pending.
When I was applying in 2011, I would only get points for a visit of a certain length - I vitised Quebec for 3 days only while my file was in process and I did not get points for staying in Quebec (I needed several weeks to get points in the section "Sejour au Quebec"), but the interviewer was impressed that I took effort to go there and explore the place even for 3 days. This way I showed my serious intentions for immigration and my basic local experience.

Nice to know about it. I would certainly try to visit for at least 3 weeks. hopefully it will get me some points. as i m getting only 57(with spouse). I was thinking i would not be able to get 6/6 in adapabity, so i am exploring options.

Thanks Again

Jass,

There is no minimum or maximum point that you should get in french or english...do your best in the test and see how many points that will add to your file. Since you have 51 points without language points, you can feel comftable while doing your language test because you already have the required points as a single applicant.

However, bare in mind that Quebec immigration fouces on french knowledge since they are a french toritory...

Best of luck

Me and my husband were refused CSQ after interview in Atlanta this month.
Here is my question:
We lost out on points (Age, French and area of training) due to Immigration Officer's decision to switch Principal applicant.

We had submitted the application with me as Principal applicant. In the interview, we were informed that they had switched and made my husband as Principal applicant, since he is L1 visa holder( I am on L2 visa in US)
Has anyone been in such a situation?

Can we appeal against the denial?
We would not have gone ahead with the application, if we knew beforehand that L2 cannot file CSQ application as Principal applicant since we did not have enough points that way.
Please help and respond.
