Hello,
Asking on behalf of a friend. My friend had applied for a refugee claim in UK back in 2007 and got denied he voluntarily left UK and then came to Canada in 2019 December. He mentioned about the Refugee claim in his BOC and did not receive any PPRA.He had his first hearing in December 2020 which got postponed because his lawyer at that time was Covid positive he then got scheduled for another hearing in 2021 May and had some problems with interpretation so they got it delayed again. He got another hearing date for May 2021 and then received another letter that he is not eligible for a refugee claim Under 104 (1)(a) bill as he had filed asylum in UK.CBSA sent that letter to RPD and him that he is not eligible for the claim it is almost 8 months that he heard nothing and confused.Lawyer is asking for money and telling him that CBSA will sent him a letter for PRRA but as per the bill he is not in PRRA yet as they only stopped RPD and terminated his hearing.

Please help if anyone has gone through this situation.

Does he needs to go to CBSA office to confirm what's going on with his file or does he needs to wait?

He was misguided by the lawyer if disclosed his previous denied asylum claim in the UK. Depending on the timing, he may or may not have deportation order activated. He can call CBSA and enquiry about his situation. If he can afford, he needs representative

Thanks for your response i will let him know to call the CBSA and ask them he still has a lawyer and the lawyer is telling him to wait as CBSA will send him a letter for PRRA and it's been more than 8 months that there's no correspondence on his case the letter was sent to RPD to terminate his hearings and considered him ineligible in May 2021 and then nothing so far
