Hi All...

me and my wife are planning to land in canada in the month of March 2015. How much funds should we bring when we land in canada. Can we use the same amount what we bought there or should we maintain the same amount always in the bank and bring extra money for the usage.

Pls help!
Much appreciated

If you are going to buy a home in Canada, you certainly want to bring more!

The proof of funds may or may be not be asked for at the time of your landing by the officer processing you. In some cases they do ask to see the proof of funds , in other cases they do not depending on the mood of the processing officer. But once you walk out into the public arrival hall, its totally up to you what you choose to do with it. ie use it all up straight away or keep it safe for the next 5 years. No one asks for it again after that. What you choose to bring in is totally up to you. The minimum amount should be what is specified as per your category required for proof of funds. The maximum amount is whatever above that which you choose to bring in.
However do note that if you are bringing in more than 10,000 CAD you do need to declare it at customs. this can be a combination of either cash, cheques, drafts or foreign currency but it must be declared.
