PROCESSING TIME FOR RESTORATION OF STATUS/WORK PERMIT

Hello everyone,

Has anyone tried to apply for restoration of status at the border?
I know on CIC website it says 'loss of status cannot be granted at port of emtry'.
But when I calles the hotline I could either submit by paper or go to the border.
It seems quite risky and I am scared that I will be deported.
BTW my application for a work permit extension was rejected because I did not have my PNP certificate at the time I filed the application but do have it now.
Does anybody have experience with that or heard of someone doing ig this way?
I really would like to speed up the waiting time if there is a chamce.

Do you have a valid visa to re enter canada or do you come from a visa exempt country? If yes, then you can give it a try, if not then even if they extend your work permit on the border you won't be able to re enter until you get a visa. In any case, it's very risky.

I am in complex situation. My pp and study permit were expiring on 18th July 2015 and I applied for extension of my study permit on 9th June 2015 without the extended pp since i was waiting for my new pp to come and my frind advised me it has no link with pp and will ask for updated pp and being stupid I applied and my case was rejected on August 5 saying pp was not valid. I contacted cic and was informed to apply for restoration and study permit again which i did on 24th Aug and which is still under review and when I called they told me it will take 4 month wait by december-jan but the thing is I have completed by studies by august end and now got my transcripts and degree and there are only 90 days to apply for PGWP and I called cic again and the lady told me to apply again by paper all 3 things study permit + restoration + PGWP and explain your case and all application numbers. But later when i consult lawyers they told me to wait for result of that file and without valid study permit i cannot apply for PGWP and later when i called cic they told me the same story, I am sooo confused what to do and if i should i apply by paper mail again for all three please help thanks. any one with same situation or something pleasae reply asap

I got rejection in june8 2015 then I applied for my restoration on june 8 till now I havnt heardd anything from them its already 25 days more than current processing time. Can somebody give me an idea How many days they usually take for restoration. Thanks in advance

I am in the same situation I applied paper application in May 2015 got rejected for not paying open work permit fee in end of July reapplied restoration of status and WP haven't heard anything since Jul 31. Looking at your timeline m worried how long more it will take.
Did you tried to call CIC?? Since its more than the actual processing time.

Yes I did every cic executive telling me different thing, one told me they cant tell how much time they gonna take and other said after picking your file of june 8 it gonna take atleast 16 weeks more. I am scared now its already 5 months I am out from my job and they are telling me another 4 months which is insane.

I applied in March by paper to extend my Post Graduate Work Permit. On May 31st, they rejected because of missing fee for open work permit of $100. I lost status and gathered everything again and applied by paper for restoration. They received my paper application on June 18th

When I call them they tell me that for restoration they cannot give me an estimate time since it varies by case. ???

They are crazy same happened in my case by mistake I clicked on the open work permit instead of restricted, (as per BC PNP) so they simply refused it.

Hi Vhardmase, yes it was finally approved on November 2nd. They DID NOT email me about the approval, I only knew because I called them.
