Hi

The processing of the second step of my parent sponsorship was started on 19th March 2009 at damsacus, Syria. Since then I have appied three times for CAIPS notes. The last Caips note was processed on 21th December 2009. They were not useful. Apparently, Nothing has been happenning at the visa office in damascus, Syria. It is already 9 months. I wonder when my parents will recieve their medical forms. Is this normal?

According to the CIC homepage it takes 9-17 months for Damascus to process the application of a parent, so I think you're worrying way too early. When was your sponsorship application approved?

Note that each time you order CAIPS notes your application is delayed since they have to gather all the applicable papers and go through them thoroughly. Usually you wouldn't be recommended to apply for CAIPS notes unless your application time has passed the eightieth percentile, which in your case would be sponsorship application time + 17 months.

Actually CAIPS notes requests don't delay the application, the ATIP office in Canada just prints the information off the computer. Only if you request copies of the actual file will it cause delay.

yes, I totally agree with PMM, the CAIPS are printed in Ottawa, and this procedure has nothing to do with visa office, I mean they are not contacted at all.

Thanks for the information.

My sponsorship application was approved on 11 january 2009. The application for immigration was sent to damascus visa office on february 2009. Based on the online status information, the processing of application was began on 17th March 2009. Since then I have no news. The caips notes do not show any activity except saying that:

paper file sent to PA
FILE BF'D TO: PPS ON 14-08-2009 (I do not understand this)

leila, that means that on August 8th, 2009, an immigration officer with the initials PPS had seen the file.

BF means 'bring forward' - meaning the application is brought to an IO who looks at it and if there's anything that need to be done with it, they (should) do it. It usually means that they are waiting for something to arrive, such as a background check or additional documents. So if that doesn't happen until the given date, they review the application and see if there's something else that needs to be done.

Thanks mitama for the information. Does it mean that they are still waiting for background check? the BF date has been the same (14 August 2009) on the three Caips Notes ( the processing dates for the caips notes are: 23th July 2009, 7th October 2009, and 21th December 2009). In fact the three Caips note have been exactly the same.

Just wondering if there is any updates on the processing times for parent sponsorship in Damascus. My file was recently transferred to Damascus and I'd like to know when the next step (I suppose the medical request) will take place.
