I do not know how to post my question or problem since this is the first time for me to use this very useful website, so sorry if I post on the wrong place.


I have a problem if anyone can help, please.

I am an international student, live in Quebec city, study at University Laval. My wife has no health insurance because she is a visitor, she has only a private insurance for the emergency, which covers only the very urgent things, but the pregnancy is not included. However, she got pregnant, and birth-giving in Canada is very expensive. The problem is that as a family, if the mother has to go back to the original country to give birth there, then the whole family have to go with there too. I have read many things regarding this issue here, for example, the midwife solution, which encouraged me to call the center of midwives in Quebec city, they told me that if your wife does not have health insurance, the cost of birth-giving (delivery) is going to be about 12,000 $ !!!!!! Which is more expensive than the hospital. Something wrong I guess!

I heard that the cost is supposed to be very low with respect of the hospital cost. SO any useful information to have midwives or any solution with affordable prices, please?

The hospital delivery can cost anywhere from $3,000-$15,000 or more depending on the delivery and if she has complications. Have you tried contacting a few midwives?
The private insurance plans do no cover pregnancy expenses, if the woman is already pregnant but there are a few plans that covers complications up to 31 weeks of pregnancy.

I could not find midwife in Quebec city, it seems they can not work individually, that is why I called some center for midwifes. However, I will try to search again to find a midwife.

Sorry for being judgmental but your username shows that you are either from an Arab country or Asian...?? If so, there are quite a few community organisations who can assist you better.

Further your user id also speaks that you are a Muslim. If that's the case, its of no harm to discuss the issue with Imam of your mosque.

Thank you brother JMOBhatti Yes I am From Jordan and Muslim, as you expect.
Thanks for your advice and recommendations. I believe and trust your suggestions, but is seems here in Quebec city every thing is different, I mean no good communications between Muslim people like the other cities and places in Canada. Many friends (in Canada outside Quebec city) told me the same as you said.

Now the problem is that not the pregnancy or the delivery, the problem with the expected complications since my wife is Pregnant with an IUD!, with I found that it is not normal pregnancy. I tried just to check if her case is risky or not, I went to general clinic, they told me you need specialist, to see specialist, I have to pay more than 1000 in the hospital. May be with some blood tests and ultrasound, the amount will be too more than 2000$, unbelievable! This kind of treatment (in Jordan) is about 200$.

Anyways, I will do my best to keep my family with me, if I could not, then the better solution is to leave Canada and I can continue my PhD may be this summer 2016 (Of course Alhumdulellah) there is a solution. But I have learned a good lesson.

Once again, thanks a lot for support and kindness , do not worry bro, I highly appropriate your interest. I will read and browse them all (in sha ALLAH). I wish I can find a solution.

As for the Masques, I know them all, and I do pry here or there. There is not normal or acceptable way to directly ask the IMAM, for example, or some body else for such kind of help, and it is embarrassing for me to do that. All what I need now is to find a hospital or a specialist who has ultrasound device and can help me in his wages so that I can afford it.
Anyways, may be I will find some useful information in your links.
