Hi all, I've been reading a lot of difference topics on this matter and was wondering if a person has a successful CEC application AND is from a visa-exempt country, do they still have to send their passport as part of the PPR process?

Does anyone here know?

Re: PPR Process for people from Visa Exempt country

I am visa exempt, but my wife is not. The PPR email I got specified that I send BOTH passports, so I did what they told me.

So I guess it depends on the individual visa officer.

I believe I saw your post on this and I am curious to know if there has been any single applicants for this, that could maybe shed some light on the matter.

I think for visa exempt countries, you need to email copies of your passport to CPPO after you get the PPR email. This as what I understand after reading the forum. They will mail you the COPR by regular mail.

Thanks Yosemite! ECAS got updated to "Medical results have been received. A decision has been made on your application" this morning, before any PPR. I'm assuming this is somewhat normal? How did it work out for you?

The majority of the posts I read on here are from people who are not from visa exempt countries.

DM before PPR is normal these days. I also had DM before getting the PPR email. I got PPR 9 days after DM on ecas. You should get PPR shortly. I am not from a visa exempt country but have read posts on the forum which say you have to email your passport copy and they send the COPR by regular mail. If I remember right, swu from the May forum had posted the PPR email he got...and he is from a visa exempt country. You could probably look it up.

Thanks yosemite, good advice. I'm staying positive regarding the application especially as my timelines are following most of the other applications which have been already approved approved.

Hi,

I am a single applicant. CEC, from visa exempt country, landed May 15, thus I think I am eligible to give some thoughts re your inquiry.

When I got my PPR, it clearly states that I only have to send in COPIES of my passport due to the visa exempt thing. CIC even specified which page of the passport they want to see.

Don't get me wrong. They requested only COPIES of your passport doesn't necessarily means that you can send the response back to them via email. IF your PPR specifies they want something "original" (e.g. photos) one must send in the package via mail. Luckily, they didn't ask for any originals re my case thus I just sent the whole package (passport copies, RPRF receipt copy, bio data form) back to them via email. Easy and quick.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the positive advice s_w_u . My doctor uploaded my medicals on the 21st and then my ECAS changed to 'Decision Made' soon after (this weekend in fact) - how long do you think I could be waiting for the PPR? 5-10 days? That's what most of the timelines seem to be...

Well I don't know for an e-med app but mine took like twenty sth days from CIC received the med result to PPR email reached my inbox.

details: med result sent to Ottawa via express post, reached the CIC mail room on Mar 20, got the PPR on Apr 11/12, sent the PP and stuff same day, got CoPR via mail on May 14.

Are you applying from within Canada?
