PPR Ottawa ?

How specific are you guys getting on your B4/B4A? I wrote down clothes, linens, books, and kitchen utensils as my "general" items, but I'm wondering if I need to be more specific and write down like spatula, chef's knife, 7 jeans, 15 novels, etc. Any thoughts?

I emailed the Canada Border Agency and asked. This was in their response. I posted the entire email in the sticky at the top of this forum.


For general household items such as books or clothing, a group listing and overall value is sufficient (e.g., kitchen utensils – $000). Since jewellery is difficult to describe accurately, it is best to use the wording from your insurance policy or jeweller's appraisal and to include photographs that have been dated and signed by the jeweller or a gemologist. This information makes it easier to identify the jewellery when you first enter Canada, and later if you return from a trip abroad with this jewellery.

So, just curious, where are all of you guys headed? I'm moving to Winnipeg, and will be landing at the Pembina/Emerson crossing.

The officer I've been emailing back and forth responded again to my email this morning. Because I received Decision Made on Friday, I asked if the COPR was also physically mailed out last week. They said it was mailed out either Thursday or Friday and should receive it this week. So, for all those with Decision Made, it should be on its way!

I have done quite a few cross border moves (all have been leaving Canada and driving in the states and then going back into Canada so far...) but what we have found is best for us is that we list everything in each box and number our boxes, write down all cereal numbers for tv's, gaming systems, computers, camera and what not and we have never(knock on wood!) had any issues crossing. Since this is how I do things we will just have that list for the B4 form but I'm mostly worried about getting the car on my husband's B4 because anything that's not on it I can just have as a returning Canadian!

This was the same response I got on Tuesday morning (I got DM Monday). I have yet to receive it in the mail (address in US), so I would guess at least about a week of mailing time. Almost there kids!

Yah, might just be the fact you're in the US, even though you're close to the border. I'm hoping Ottawa to Toronto doesn't take more than 3 days...

Pretty excited here! My wife received her CoPR today!!! She'll be landing tomorrow!! Three weeks away from the birth of our child and she'll be a PR beforehand, couldn't be happier!!

Question: It doesn't indicate anywhere on the CoPR or accompanying paperwork that she must bring any photos. We'd supplied photos with the application itself, and one has been applied to her CoPR. Does anyone know, must she bring more to land?

Only the one that CBSA keeps needs a photo. I had photos on each of mine (applied by LA) and the CBSA officer was surprised, since he said usually only ONE of them has a photo on it.
