Applying OUTland.
Gf is canadian, 1 year plus living together in Toronto.
Lodging application this week, in late July.

I am leaving in August back home to Ireland for my bro's wedding.

When I arrive back at Toronto (one week later) I will NOT have a return ticket to Ireland.

It sounds like I could be at risk of DOE.

Any suggestions, help?

buy a return ticket to ireland to show just in case??

I mean, if that is what is making you nervous maybe that would be a good idea?? You could buy it several months ahead, or buy a refundable ticket?

You may need to prove that you will return to Ireland, and that you are only visiting.

Of course, you may not be waved through without too many questions. Hard to predict!

You definitely need to buy a return ticket. But i dunno if it can throw out your outland application because your intention is really to stay in Canada and that will be revealed later on. I think you should apply inland. But i am not an immigration expert, its just, you dont want to mess up something this important.

Return tickets are mostly always cheaper than a one way anyway ,put your return date to Ireland when you think you may like to go for a vacation,if you dont use the return oh well, but it is still cheaper.

Your application won't get thrown out, but if you want to visit in the meantime you do have to show that you're willing and able to return to Ireland if the PR should fail for some reason. It's no good saying you can't afford a ticket back. That would be an automatic denial.

You might be able to get a ticket that is cancelable and refundable.

exactly what I figure -- you can always cancel/exchange/refund the ticket or use it at another time -- usually for up to one year. and if you can't cancel or exchange it, it was probably pretty cheap.

Seems a much better plan than worrying about being denied entry.
