Positives About Canada?

01) Canada has comparatively easy immigration requirements, compared with the USA and Australia.

02) At government level the country has a compelling desire to have more immigrants.

03) After 3 years here, one can apply for citizenship….that’s very quick.

04) It is less expensive to get going here than in the UK. Sterling is very dear and life is expensive in the UK.

05) Canada has a strong Social Security net to catch you if you fall.:Yes Even for those who arrive here as Refugees, they offer every thing to start a new life.

06) Pretty good government schools (compared with the USA and UK).

07) A $1,2 trillion USD G7-group* major Western economy.

08) One of the strongest currencies on Earth that outperformed almost all over the past 5 years.

09) Low inflation of 2.9% so one’s money does not devalue much during retirement.

10) Low interest rates. Mortgages are around 5%.: Yes..Some where close to 5% right now.

11) A huge trade surplus with the USA. They buy more from us than we from them.

12) Easy access to the USA as a Canadian citizen : Not any more it takes more than three hours to pass the land border because of the recent security issues according to the news. People are saying that official are friendlier than the counter parts on the other side of the border.

13) One of the major resource countries on the planet with huge reserves.

14) The biggest source of imported oil for the USA and, it now appears, Oil Sands reserves trumping the Saudis.: Yes Yes . Alberta’s economy is booming because of the oil sand. There are numerous TV documentaries and articles about the shortage of labour force in Alberta. Alberta government recently passed a law to recruit high school students in workplaces.

15) Right next door to the USA with its $13 trillion economy, great market and business opportunity.

16) Very low crime rate…can sleep with the doors open in many places.: Numbers may say that but it is not wise to leave the door open even in the summer time.

17) Canadians are truly decent people with respect for other people.: Yes Very very. People are very polite and nice.

18) The Canadian culture is sophisticated and totally status-blind.

19) It is the place to be if one wants a balance between a Social Conscience and The Free Market System.

20) The most welcome passport almost anywhere on the planet.

Canada is one of the few countries in the World that is actively looking for immigrants. Not only is it easier to emigrate to Canada than to other lands of opportunity, it is also probably one of the most attractive countries in which to live. The United Nations named Canada one of best places to live in the World. The Economist has ranked Vancouver as the best city to live for four years in a row.
What makes Canada so attractive?

• Canada has one of the highest life expectancies in the world (Compare to Australia).
• It is a safe place to live (compare to Australia).
• It is very prosperous (Compare to Australia).
• It has wide open spaces and spectacular scenery (Compare to Australia).
• There is an excellent health care system (Compare to Australia).

1. One of the biggest differences is that in the midst of the current Australian federal election, immigration is one of the most important issues. In Canada, immigration should be a major issue because of the enormous negative changes it is causing in Canada, but so far, it is not.

2. 75% of Australians have indicated in a recent poll that they do not want a larger population. Immigration should be reduced to achieve that goal. Canadians have never been asked whether they want a larger population. In fact, most Canadians do not know much about the immigration issue, particularly that immigration is the major factor in Canada's population increase. Crucially, the majority do not know that most of Canada's immigration intake makes little sense.

3. Australia's national broadcaster and a number of Australian academics have promoted a discussion of the issues of a larger population and of immigration. In Canada, the CBC has become a national embarrassment to the country. As we have said before, rather than perform its journalistic duty by airing a discussion of the immigration issue, the CBC has assumed the role of propaganda arm for the high-immigration lobby. Re Canadian academics: almost all have been timid and have abdicated their professional responsibility.

Australia has a larger stock of English speaking immigrants than Canada. This should continue to advantage Australia as ‘chain' immigration from English speaking countries will remain higher. Nonetheless, as the proportion of the stock of English speaking immigrants falls immigration of English speaking immigrants will diminish, particularly as competition for skilled immigrants increases.

4) There is a major difference in the processes for assessing qualifications of potential immigrants. This has increasing importance as the emphasis of immigration policy has changed toward attracting more skilled immigrants. Whereas skilled immigrants to Australia must have their qualifications formally assessed as part of their application to immigrate (if not before they are able to apply) this is not so for Canada (recently rules changed for Canada we must go with the assessment credential) but for Quebec Immigration and others PNP we need not to go for assessment credential. Although Canada has an early assessment process, it is advisory only. Moreover, in Australia the assessment has force nationally in contrast to Canada where formal acceptance of a qualification in one province does not mean acceptance in another hance restricting mobility.
