Hi guys, hope everyone is well and keeping strong. We are in the process of gathering documents to submit my application. It's a lot of work!

I have a question, where can I take permanent resident photos in New York? Thanks
I don't know an exact spot in NY, however anywhere that does passport photos should do immigration photos. Often businesses advertise more towards passport photos but they do immigration photos too. Just to be extra cautious ask them if they do Canadian immigration photos and take the paper with you that clearly identifies the size of the photo because immigration photos are different from passport size.
How close do you think you are to submitting? Have you done medical yet?

Thanks for your reply behopeful. I have the paper and I will def take it with me but I notice a lot of the common places like CVS, walgree, target, etc don't take these specific photos cic is asking for. The norm in the US for passport and immigration is 2" x2".

I just googled Canadian immigration photos in NYC and a place in Manhatten comes up along with a few others, but that might be quite the trip depending on where you live in NYC. I've also quickly browsed some of the forums here and it seems fairly challenging. Some people seem to say they had a manager override the settings at places like Target or Walgreens while others seemed to say they had to cut them themselves but making sure he photographer knows so that he can adjust the picture.
Perhaps checking on some of the US forums may provide more insight and assistance. I think Zouk's partner may have been in the US but not sure if pictures were done there. She might know better!

Wow its been awhile since I have been on here-I guess it is because I have bad news myself. We got our decision made on November 13 after being asked to clarify a discrepency on our application. The issue was that we had applied under my husbands mothers name in which he had id for in 2009 for a visitors visa and got refused. In 2010 my husbands parents got married and we now my husband started to use his mothers married name as a last name. So when we applied for sposorship we used the now married last name. So immigration denied our application stated that we misrepresented ourselves. Anyhow after crying my brains out I sought a lawyer and now we are waiting for an appeal date which could be 8 to 12 months. Yeah totally sucks.

I am so sorry to hear about Miss D that is heart breaking and trust me I know exactly how you feel.Hopefully things will turn around for you and the coming year brings a miracle.
So very sorry to hear this disappointing news for you. It is devastating for people waiting and hoping for a positive answer. As you may have read, the majority of people can win their cases on appeal so glad to see you are being proactive and have legal representation. There is also an appeal thread on the forum you may want to check it out on the main page. Blessings and prayers for some 2014 miracles for our POS and KG folks.

Hello my dear Behopeful and congratulations on your one year application anniversary and being able to celebrate with hubby by your side for 2 months now!!! There are many milestones along the way of this journey and because some of them are so hard, it is nice to mark the ones that are more fun :D!! I am just about to get some "visitors" health insurance for hubby until he gets his OHIP. If anyone has any recommendations please let me know. I second those prayers for our JA friends.......c'mon Kingston!!! Re-unite those families :-*!! Blessings.

I'm pretty sure my husband just went into Walgreens...anywhere that does passport photos can do them. Truth be told, it's the one you send at the end with your PP that really counts, as that goes on your PR card. These first 8 are just for their use. He brought in the spec sheet and they took the shots for him. If I remember correctly, I think they're even less stringent than passport photos.

Greetings MsRuby ;) and we can all relate to the application process. :D You will feel so good when it is sent and I have a good feeling that late 2013 and 2014 applicants may see faster processing times. So do all of your double checking on that application though, you do not want it sent back. I may have mentioned this before but there is one form that requires a signature on 2 spots (cannot remember which one though) so watch out for that one, it is a bit tricky and many people miss it and get their apps. sent back. Also pay all of the fees upfront if you can. It will cut down on processing time. Blessings.

So So sorry to hear that, I hate when things get messed up on a technicality! I wish we had you on here sooner, would've told you to explain that in your cover letter and include the original visa application results...everything would have been fine then. I'm surprised they didn't give you an opportunity to explain the discrepancy...someone must've been having a bad day and took it out on you :(

Get geared up and I'm positive you'll win that appeal...it just sucks to lose all that extra time! Now I'm mad too!
