Decision made on e-cas after you have sent passport simply means they have issued the visa and that you should be expecting your passport back with visa inside soon. It's a good sign. They won't "contact you" if you've already gotten PPR and sent passport and return envelope for passport... you will just get your passport back with a visa inside. It's a good sign. Congrats.

Millslu... The basic answer to your question is that you must be in Canada for 2 years (730 days) out of a 5 year period. I am pasting something below which is a direct quote from the CIC website:

"What permanent residents cannot do
As a permanent resident, you and your dependants cannot:
Vote or run for political office.
Hold certain jobs that have a high-level security clearance requirement.
Remain in Canada if you are convicted of a serious criminal offence and have been told to leave the country.

Keeping your permanent resident status
Your permanent resident status allows you to live in Canada, but there is also a time limit on how long you can live outside the country. To keep your status as a permanent resident, you must live in Canada for at least two years within a five-year period."

You can travel to places that don't require you to have a VISA to enter that country. You are a PR of Canada but your citizenship still lies with your home country. The way I think of it... If you can travel from your home country without a VISA, you can still do the same now and being a PR of Canada doesn't change the requirement for needing a VISA to enter a country! Hope that helps!

Prisoner of Canada for days that will total 2 years out of a 5 year period millslu :D!! You also need to do the following for OHIP coverage, taken right off their website:

Eligibility

Ontario residents are eligible for provincially funded health coverage (OHIP). Generally, to be eligible for Ontario health coverage you must :
•be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or among one of the newcomer to Canada groups who are eligible for OHIP as set out in Ontario's Health Insurance Act ; and
•be physically present in Ontario for 153 days in any 12-month period; and
•be physically present in Ontario for at least 153 days of the first 183 days immediately after establishing residency in the province;
and
• make your primary place of residence in Ontario.

OHIP coverage normally becomes effective three months after the date you establish residency in Ontario. The ministry strongly encourages new and returning residents to purchase private health insurance in case you become ill during the OHIP waiting period.

Are you sure about drop off/pickup? That's great then. Dr Ross is charging 800 to check my daughter and ask us if she has any allergies etc. The dmp doesn't set the med fee, it's the Dr. And our app is for my dtr and wife. My son is a Canadian. Oh well I'll just have to pay it.

CdnandTrini said:
Congrats Dadzin, as others have said, this is the PPR......if you are in Trini though, you can actually drop passports off and pick-up in person when visa is ready I believe between the hours of 10:00 and 12:00. At least this will avoid a courier expense.

Re-doing the meds is so annoying considering it was their problem!! I thought that your kiddos were both born in Canada.....do they still have to re-do? Also I recall reading somewhere that if a 2nd medical is done it is not the full monty, like the first......I could be wrong but call the DMP in Trini and ask. The one we used was Dr. Ross Millar and his staff are usually pretty good at being up to date on all of the immigration stuff. And ask for a family discount!! :D......can't hurt right? So happy for your family.

The 2 years can be split up over the 5 years. I don't think you can travel until you have your PR card either- current processing time to receive PR card is between 50 and 60 days.

Dadzin... Yes you can drop off/ pick up after they call and say its ready. My husband did this. His letter didn't indicate he should courier the PP. We had no issues with this method. We sent a CSE after dropping the PP off. I would suggest doing that.

Dadzin, we did the same as Behopeful. Dropped off PP, sent CSE to confirm and are now awaiting the call for pick-up. I estimate it may take anywhere from 1 - 4 weeks..........what do you think Behopeful?
