Port of entry question

Do the officers at the Port of entry check the traveler's documentations? If one applied for the tourist visa from the USA with working visa, but later on get laid off, can the traveler still enter Canada? Or that traveler has to be still employed in the USA? What exactly do they check there?

Your Canadian Visa would still be valid for travel. You would be required to show that you are a genuine visitor to Canada and have plans to depart Canada. You would also have to prove you have the means to support yourself.

Expect to be closely examined and questioned, as generally people who are unemployed don't go on vacations.
