Have a question on the passport valid date...my current passport is valid for 6 months less 4 days - do I need to renew my passport first?

Send your passport to them immediately. They need minimum validity of six months which you have. Any time wasted could cost you to renew your passport.

Hi there,


I called CIC yesterday. They said security is still pending. But MyCIC account changed to in progress on 13th January 2017.

I was wondering if change of background check status to 'in progress' supposed to mean PACE? Or is just an indication that the security check had started a while ago but the status just got updated on MyCIC account?

Is it worth ordering a GCMS note at this point?

Do the 1•1•3•1 once connected, let them know you'd like to book an appointment at the nearest CIC office.

Got my PP back. Going to the border .. Peace Arch!!

Became PR yesterday Coutts border, Alberta. This border crossing has more commercial traffic than individual and seems like it takes a lot of data entry for CBS. Entire time from going to the border and getting away took 1.5 hours

Congrats buddy. Could you please share your experiences as i am planning to go to border aswell once i get my passport. Like what is the procedure and what documents you carried. Ajy questions they ask you???

Thanks for the reply. Called CIC on Friday morning, and the call centre agent can't really give me an answer. I emailed CTD Ottawa and unexpectedly got their reply on the same day and they told me to mail my current passport. Passport sent on Friday!
