I sent my passport for visa and plan to cross the border after getting it. How can I re enter without pr card if I want to travel after completing landing procedures.

I read about PRTD(Permanent resident travel document) online on cic's website. Does any body have experience with that?

Hello

Please make sure to call CIC. I posted a few questions in the sticky thread of this forum - http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/ainp-srs-h1b-landing-experience-and-post-landing-related-activities-t46784.645.html

Just to let you know, my friend got PPR last week and when he called CIC, one of the agents told him that he would require a US visa in order to do landing at the Alberta-USA border. The other option (as per the Agent) was to request an appointment with the local citizenship office. He asked him to fill an application of request. The request mail will be received in 3 weeks and another 3-4 weeks to appointment after the mail. The latter is a time consuming lengthy process.

Please share, if you happen to call CIC.

Cheers.

This is weird, liefonedge.. I know for sure that you don't require US visa for PR landing. By rule, one doesn't require US visa to land since you don't enter US.

CIC and its strange ways to deal with the things.

I heard the same from other guys, who landed in 2013 & 2014. But this friend of mine called CIC today and thats what they replied. He is planning to go to the border anyways this weekend without a US visa. I will share what happens with him.

Please do share as well, when you do your landing.

Cheers.

Hello guys,
Sent passports off Monday of last week they got there on Wednesday awaiting tracker activation.
As it regards visa for crossing the border...I am not visa exempt and have done flagpoling 2 times and they have always required a USA visa from me. Technically from you cross that line you have left Canada's soil and need to be admitted into the USA. If you are not visa exempt you need one to go on their soil. From my understanding the agreement between both countries on the matter of immigration causes the USA to not stamp your visa if you are just going in and out of their building. They still processed me at the first check point took my passport and sent it inside then instructed me where to go. The officer on the inside runs his checks asked me questions and then printed a white paper to take back to Canada side.
From my friends who have done landing it's the same procedure.
