My PR card is expiring in April 2020 and I am in India. Went to Canada for doing Landing formalities.Still looking for jobs from India.

I know that one must spend 2 years in Canada before expiration of PR card to apply for Citizenship. What could be the affect I come to Canada before one and half year or one year before PR expiry?

What difficulties I can face to get Citizenship later?

Please advise.

Thanks
Raj

*one must spend 2 years in Canada before expiration of PR card to keep his/her Permanent Resident status.
What if I don't fulfill that requirement of atleast 2 years.

Without going into technical details, you could eventually lose your PR.
Okay.I am actually planning to go alone. If I don't get settles there in time I wouldn't be able to call my family in Canada and there could be a case where I meet 2 years requirement and family does not. What do you suggest here.

In that case, they may have to renounce their PR voluntarily. Then, you can sponsor them when you are ready. Good luck!

You must spend 2 years in Canada but it is based the 5 year term from your landing date. It has nothing to do with your PR card expiry date.
