Hello,

I was away from Canada for a total of 400 days. for my first trip to US i stayed there for 150 days , then travelled to U.K. for about 190 days and then returned back to US for a stay for about 60 days . than came back to canada after a total absence of 400 days.

how can i write / input this in the citizenship calculator... since my single absence is totaling to about 400 days during this period.

i did not stay for more than 183 days at any place outside Canada.

how can i input the above info in the calculator so that they will not ask me for a police certificate since the total in one single entry shows the absence as 400 days.

Thanks

You can list all 3 absences in 3 separate rows, even if all 3 absences were continuous, meaning you were away from Canada continuously for 400 days:
Absence 1 - USA - 150 days
Absence 2 - UK - 190 days
Absence 3 - USA - 60 days

As per Citizenship application guide, you will need police clearance certificate from both USA and UK. Below are extracts from Citizenship guide:

"
Within the last 4 years, if you spent 183 days or more in another country (other than Canada), you must provide a police certificate. You must provide a police certificate for each country where you spent 183 days or more. If you cannot get a police certificate, tell us why.

Example 1
In the past 4 years, you took one (1) trip to France that lasted 200 days. You would answer “Yes” to the question and you would need to provide a police certificate from France.

Example 2
In the past 4 years, you took 10 trips to the United States of America (USA). Each trip lasted 3 weeks, for a total of 210 days. You would answer “Yes” to the question and you would need to provide a police certificate from the USA.

Yes, you do.

See the examples provided on the website that @rajmalhotra7 quoted. It does not matter that they were 2 separate trips, the TOTAL time spent in the foreign country during the last 4 years is what counts. So yes, you were in the US for more than 183 days and you need to provide a police certificate.

Example 2 in the post above clearly says you need to... 150 + 60 days (it does not have to be 1 trip).

FBI clearance should take less than 3 weeks if you were not involved in any illegal activities. As mentioned by other members, you will have to provide FBI clearance for your stay in the States.
