Thanks for sharing this article! It's sad to think that our government has to spend this kind of money and manpower to track down fraudsters, especially the kind who live abroad and pay no taxes here, but take advantage of all our social services. I think the exit tracking system would be a great way to track the number of days residents actually stay in Canada. I realize, though, that it'll take time to implement.

True... unfortunately, I don't think it will be foolproof. The passport remains the main travel document, so unless they will have system that compels PRs to swipe their cards, people can decide not to. I also think they need to make some changes to the social programs such that people only receive it if they have contributed. There is no reason a select few should continue paying into the fund while others just show up and collect. Should these people even be eligible for a pension?
