Hello,

My wife is a permanent resident, on a Family Class (spousal) sponsorship (me - Canadian citizen). Just about to get things going and have a few questions off the bat:

1.) My wife's PR Card expires next October (2019) - if I start the application process now for her citizenship, am I leaving myself enough time?

2.) Am I able to BOTH apply to renew my wife's PR Card AND apply for her citizenship at the same time? (in the case, her citizenship does not get processed before PR Card expiry)

3.) English tests - does she need to take one to prove she speaks English or is this assumed based on her spousal (Family Class) permanent residency status?

Thank you!

1) Most applicants get their citizenship in less than a year, so yeah, that's plenty of time.
2) Yes you can, each application has no effect on the other. If she doesn't plan to leave Canada, your wife is not even obliged to renew the PR card.
3) She will need a langage proof, this has noting to do with the way she got her citizenship.

Thank you very much Seym!

Follow-up to the language component: any recommendations for an English-equivalency test she should be looking at? And what kind of scores will she be looking to achieve in order to successfully "pass" her language component of her citizenship?
