Passport return for visitor visa in London office

Hi there,

I applied for the Canadian visitor visa online and I should send my passport to Canadian High Commission in London for visa stamping. I will enclose a UK special delivery envelope for returning my passport.

I am just wondering if I can let them return my passport to my friend's address by just writing my friend's name and address on this special delivery envelope. (Because his address is much more reliable than mine for receiving posts) Do I need to write an authorisation letter?

Does the official website say anything about this, I didn't find any...

Does anyone know how long it will take to receive the passport after I send it to London High Commission for visa stamping?
