Passport for Dual Citizen

MY 6 year old US born son got Canadian citizenship as well.
I was wondering if I should immediately get passports for him or it can be done at anytime.
Thinking just from Maintenance point of view and what should be the primary one for travels: US or Canada?

Don't think it matters. Only thing is that the dual son cannot go into US using his Canadian Passport to enter. Must use US passport.
