today i received PPR1, and here mention that "For your visas to have maximum validity, all passports should be valid for at least 12 months from the date of your medical examinations". and we did medical exam on 16 july 2013. now the problem is My son passport will expire on 01 april 2014. and according to this letter it should 16 july 2014( 3 month difference).... please tell me either i send same passport or go for new passport......

First of all, many congratulations. This is also showing that they are atleast working during the strike as well. Well friend, i guess this "one year validity" requirement is a "must" and they will not accept the passport unless they are valid for atleast one year. I would suggest you that if you lives in Pakistan then go to your nearest passport office, apply your son's passport on "Urgent" and give some good amount to a "Passport Agent" and you will get the new one within hardly 4-5 days. This would safeguard the case of all of your family members.

I don't know if you have first hand knowledge of this or not.. would u like to share if your or anyone's passport (in your knowledge) has been declined for having validity less than one year at the time of visa..
Seniors please comment...my medical expires in Dec 13, and my son's passport expires in July 14... if i get a passport request before Dec, would the high commission accept my son's passport for visa stamping??

I don't know if you have first hand knowledge of this or not.. would u like to share if your or anyone's passport (in your knowledge) has been declined for having validity less than one year at the time of visa..
Seniors please comment...my medical expires in Dec 13, and my son's passport expires in July 14... if i get a passport request before Dec, would the high commission accept my son's passport for visa stamping??
I AM JUST COPY AND PAST THE STATEMENT RELATED TO PASSPORT MATTERS FROM MY PPR 1 LETTER.

Passport Specifications
Your application will be delayed if any of the passports do not meet the following specifications. This delay will
shorten the amount of time that you will have to travel to Canada to become a permanent resident.
1. Submit only copies of the passport pages showing the passport number, date of issue and expiry, your
photo, name, date and place of birth, as well as any amendments to this information.
2. The photocopies must be from the passports you will use to travel to Canada. If you submit a different
passport in Step 2 than the photocopy submitted in Step 1, then all passports will be returned and you will
have to start again from Step 1.
3. Diplomatic, official, service or public affairs passports are not valid for immigration to Canada.
4. All names and dates of birth must be printed in each passport in English or French.
5. The given name (first name) of the passport-holder must be clearly printed on the Given Name line of the
biodata page of each passport. The surname (last name) of the passport-holder must be clearly printed on
the Surname line of the biodata page of each passport. They should match your Updated Information
Chart.
6. Your spouse must have their own passport. Your accompanying children should also each have their own
passports.
7. Each passport must have at least two empty pages.
8. For your visas to have maximum validity, all passports should be valid for at least 12 months from the date
of your medical examinations.
9. All passports must be intact and not worn, torn or otherwise damaged; the laminate on the biodata page
must be securely attached. Each page must be securely affixed to the passport; there cannot be any loose
pages. Ordinary passports are the only type of passport into which a permanent resident visa may be
inserted. Diplomatic, official, special or other similar types of passports are NOT acceptable.

SO YOU CAN SEE POINT NUMBER 8 STATES THAT FOR THE MAXIMUM VALIDITY OF THE VISA ( I-E ONE YEAR/12 MONTHS ) A PASSPORT MUST BE VALID ONE YEAR PARTICULARLY FROM THE DATE OF THE MR. WHICH MEANS THAT IF THE PASSPORT IS GOING TO BE EXPIRING BEFORE THE VALIDITY OF THE MR, MEANS THAT THE VISA WILL ALSO BE EXPIRE. AT THE END ONE HAVING VERY SHORTEN TIME FOR LANDING IF THEIR PASSPORT ARE GOING TO EXPIRE BEFORE THE VALIDITY DATE OF THEIR MR.
THIS IS MY VIEW IN THE LIGHT OF THE ABOVE CHC LETTER, SEINER CAN CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG.
HOPE THAT IT WILL HELP YOU UP TO SOME EXTENT.
REGARDS,

Kindly do not spread wrong info.

10,000 dollar limit is for "visit visa".....immigrant visa hoilder can carry a million dollars if they want to from pakistan....this is what the IOM session also tells u, and most of my friends who left from pak airport last year, took around 30K dollars ALL CASH, and r now sitting in canada.
Even a single person (not married) will need to carry 11,000 dollars according to their new chart. So this 10,000 dollar limit is NOT for immigrants. Its for people with visit visa.

EID MUBARAK!

Hi friends,

As I updated my documents (including paid visa fees) in November 12. From LVO, I received medical request in Decemeber'12 and passed through Medical examination in January 13. I contacted visa office and they informed me that they have received my medicals with a validity of January 14. And my case is going through routine background checks. Now it has been more than 7 months. Can you please share your time period of waiting after medical request for passport request - How much time it has been passed since you appeared in medicals?

Second, could you please share your experience of visa validity date. Do LVO issue a valid visa until one-year validity of medicals of they give some extra/grace period? As I am also finding resignation issues with my current job in Pakistan - I may give resignation to my current employer (with a legal binding) either in Aug/Sept 13 or March 14, while my medicals are expiring in January 14.

Please inform me if you have knowledge/experience about it.

Best wishes to all. Good Luck.

Hi, as far as the waiting time from medicals to visa issuance is concerned, it is entirely different in each individual case and there is no average time period. Many people got the first request literally within 15 days of medicals whereas there are many who received it after 2,3,6 or 8 months etc.

Now, as far as your traveling is concerned, you have to travel within the validity of your medicals.

Lets take a scenario as an example. Suppose, you have done your medicals on 1st January 2013 (which would expire after one year automatically on 31st of December 2013) and today if you gets your visa where the expiry date is mentioned as 30th June 2014. Now, keeping in view this scenario, you must land in Canada before 31st of December and there is no benefit of having a valid visa till 30th June 2014.

Let me tell you another thing (i don't know if you know this or not). If you are traveling with your family and e.g. you have 4 passports in total then the visas of all of your family members will expire if any of the passport gets expired within the visa or medical validity time. Now, take the above scenario again, suppose if your or any of your family member's passport will expire suppose on 30th November 2013 then you will neither rely on the visa expiry date nor on the medicals validity. In this case, your traveling deadline will end on 30th November. I have mentioned this information just for your facilitation so that if you are not ready from this aspect better be prepared for this.
