That's not entirely correct. You will have to renew trv. You cannot stay inside Canada without a valid visa.

Study permit is approval for study.

TRV is approval to live temporarily. You need both in a valid form to continue your stay and study there. If your study permit expires but visa is valid, you can still live, but not study, but not vice versa.

Doesn't matter LOI is not a study permit,, its just letter of introduction,, u will get 4 year permit as it should be written on your LOA,, immigration officer will see ur LOA and see that ur program is 4 years ,,so he will give u 4 year study permit

ok or i can say to him that look LOI says 2 yaers but my actuall study is 4 years. my case is diifferent coz i applied for International College oF manitoba, 1st year of Bachelors at ICM and the rest at Uni of manitoba which is clearly mentioned on my letter of acceptence. so as the UNI is affiliated with the college and both thier signatures and emblems are on the LOA. i shud explain this to immigration oficer and get 4 yaer study permit. Then I will need to renew my TRV only later rit?

Well I can ask him that 4 year study permit coz the LOA shows my intention to study for 4 years atleast I mean its meaningless to complete 1 year o bachelors and then go home lol

Most of the countries don't require TRV enter Canada,, but all country residents require study permit to live.

No it's not. You actually have 90 days to leave the country or get some other status.

For one, people are often there on visit status. Secondly, even if you are there to study or work, and if your work / study permit has expired and you haven't applied for extension before expiry, then you can STILL apply for permit renewal. Though you cannot work / study during that time, but you CAN stay there legally until you get the feedback and all of this info is available on cic website. Read through to get details.
