I have two questions to ask:

1. When London VO sends medical requests through TCS does it also informs through email (to the applicant) ?
2. The limit for taking cash out of Pakistan is $5000, can one family take only $5000 or it can take $5000 with each member of the family including children under 12 ?

Dear seniors, please! my timelines and data are: noc 4131, complete application submitted in june 2010, 2nd aor in august 2010, ecas RBVO, vo london, my country Pakistan.
Queries:
1. it is now a year since i got my 2nd aor. when do you think my ecas should be changed to IP and should i not write to vo regarding the same?
2. NOW after about 14 plus months of complete application submission to london vo, what are the chances of my job verification?
3.I want to take long leave of about 6 months to a year, to do something else. would that weaken/ affect my case? some consultants say it will weaken my case. what is the fact?
4.My 2nd aor contained the sentence: The processing of your application will be resumed. Does that mean something special? (i submitted my application directly to london vo, not transferred).
5. when do you think i should receive my MR?
Thanks and warmest regards,
Ghafoor

@ Ghafoor
I cannot understand how can you submit an application directly to London VO instead of routing it through CIO NS Canada, as written in para 4 of your post? I did that (by mistake) and my application was returned by London VO asking me to send it to CIO NS Canada.

Its $10,000 cash that one can take legally out of Pakistan and not $5000. You and your spouse can take $10,000 each but I do not know if children under 12 can carry that but I think not.

Thanks

So it means a couple going from Pakistan to Canada can take the POF/settlements Funds with them in Cash rather hen Draft or TC ?? Is that better or not ?

Yes definitely better if you want to save some money despite if you have any security concerns. But I think its allright as I have carried that much amount many times without any problems. Just put in your hand luggage.

Thanks

@Pittabread
1. Do first timers in Canada have to declare the amount in cash with them?
2. What if some one carries more then $10000 each for example $13000 each by a husband and wife?
3, Can children carry some money too ??

Upto $10,000 you or your wife don't need to declare but over $10,000 you have to. If you carry more than $10,000 you need to declare and have to fill a from at Canadian airport.

I told already I don't know about children. You need to check with FBR (federal board of revenue)

http://www.settlement.org/sys/faqs_detail.asp?faq_id=4000258

How do I bring money into Canada (proof of funds)?
You can bring money into Canada in different forms. When you arrive, you must tell a border official if you are carrying more than C$10,000.
If you bring more than C$10,000 (or the equivalent in another currency) into Canada, you must declare the amount when you arrive. You must fill out form Cross-Border Currency or Monetary Instruments Report - Individual (E677) [PDF].

If you do not declare it, you may need to pay a fine or face other penalties. You are not taxed on the money you bring with you when you land.

You can bring money into Canada in the form of:

Cash
Securities in bearer form (for example, stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills)
Negotiable instruments in bearer form (for example, bank drafts, cheques, travellers' cheques, money orders)
Transfer of funds between your bank and a Canadian bank
Speak with your financial institution before you come to Canada about currency laws and regulations in Canada and in the country you are leaving. There may be restrictions on the amount of money you can take out of the country.

If you are coming from a country that has currency restrictions, you may have up to 3 years to import goods purchased with this money in your former country. However, you must show CBSA proof that you faced restrictions.

For More Information
Canada Border Services (CBSA) - CBSA is responsible for border services (port-of-entry services), customs and enforcement of some immigration laws in Canada.
Settling in Canada - Information for newcomers about importing money and goods into Canada. From the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
Banks Operating in Canada - Information about Canadian banks and foreign banks with offices in Canada. From the Canadian Bankers Association.
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) - CIC is responsible for Canadian immigration and citizenship. Get information on CIC policy, programs and services, application kits, and more.

I hope this helps:

Disclosure of funds
If you are carrying more than C$10,000, tell a Canadian official when you arrive in Canada. If you do not tell an official, you may be fined or put in prison. These funds could be in the form of:

•cash
•securities in bearer form (for example, stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills) or
•negotiable instruments in bearer form (for example, bankers' drafts, cheques, travellers' cheques or money orders).

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

And at the Decalration Card you are asked to declare all animals...you also have to declare currency ... totalling CAN$10,000.00 or more. Failure to do so could result in penalties, seizure and/or prosecution.

But I guess you don't have to worry since you said you'd be bringing in CAN$8,500.00 which is definitely not totalling 10k or more.

Which makes it $20,000 cash for a couple? Beg to differ and believe its max $10,000 per joint entry by a family.

Yes. It makes $20,000 per Joint entry Mirza. $10,000 is per person.

http://www.expatforum.com/expats/australia-expat-forum-expats-living-australia/72021-how-much-cash-carry-while-travelling-australia.html

We will be travelling from Karachi (Pakistan) to Sydney (Australia). I checked that maximum cash to carry from Pakistan is $10,000 dollars and in Australia, &10,000 and over should be declared on arrival.

$10,000 limit is per person? As I will be travelling with my wife, is it possible that I keep $8,000 and my wife keeps $7,000?

The above is for Australia but same is true for Canada and I will put more evedence here in a minute.

Thanks.

1- First timers can declare the amount in cash, bank draft, TC.
2- You can take max 10,000$ per family out of country.
3- No.
The best option is [80%-20%] ratio. 80% Bank draft and 20% cash. Carrying a lot of cash for the first time would not be a wise decision. If the bank is in same city for which draft has been made then it'd require 48 hours to encash otherwise max. 30+ days.

You can take cash max 10,000$ out of country. For anything above that you have to take either in the form of Bank Draft or traveler cheque.
