I would also like to know about the experience of Career edge interview. I am planning to go for the video interview step this weekend, post which I will need to upload the Canadian equivalency of my qualifications.
I have not yet landed in Canada - can Career edge help arrange future internship opportunities, which will help me plan my departure date from my current country?
Also, can we re-apply to them, if we don't clear an interview with Career edge? Is there a limit to the number of times we can re-apply?

Any tips to clear the interview will be great!

I am still in my home country and plan to land canada in september. Today I tried to register career edge and finished video interview(Step 3) . However, in step 4 in need to provide canadian phone no and address which I don't have. So I was stuck in step 4. What should I do? I don't have any no or address from canada.

By the way, the career edge is only for Toronto?

Seems you'll have to complete step 4 when you arrive.

Although its not restricted to Toronto but most of the time around 90% of the positions are in toronto/GTA, however every now and then you may find a few opportunities in other areas for example Ottawa, Edmonton, Montreal.

Any tips to clear the interview will be great!

1. You will be asked 2 or 3 behavioral interview questions probing on your current and past working experience. You are expected to answer in the STAR format (Situation, Task, Action, Result). If you are not familiar with this type of interview i suggest you google/search youtube for examples.
Careeredge prescreening interview is pretty simple, you can easily pass it, however you will need to master the STAR technique as you will be asked behavioural interview questions in almost any job interview in Canada.

2. CareerEdge does not really "help in arranging internships" rather think of it as a portal which provides an opportunity to "apply" for internship positions, careeredge only verifies your eligibility and hence they have the prescreening process but once you gain access to the internship listings
their role ends. The employer decides whom to select for those positions.

3. You can try applying from abroad if you can, but i understand that internships are available only for those already in Canada.

4. If you don't clear the prescreening interview with careerEdge - it means you are not eligible and hence you wont be granted access to apply for internships through careeredge.

Hi Guys,

I have got the PAID internship with career edge when I landed here in 2013 for 6 months with Ontario Public services.
Its a legit organization and helps new immigrants getting hold of a job and canadian experience.

But this has as few issues... they are generally slow. The job posts might not be what you are looking for or from your own field since the companies that are associated with them are very few. The only rule of thumb with them is apply for as many as you can.

I applied for any and every post and had lost all hope, but got a call from OPS and in a couple of days of interview they selected me.

So all in all, you might see this as waste of your time, but it does not harm in applying and keep searching in other places.
At the very least, they pay the money with which you can run your monthly expenses and not finishing your savings.

And anyone who is expecting to get a call while in their home countries, its not gonna happen. You have to be here to make it work.

Just to share my experience as a career edge intern.

I got a 6 months financial analyst intern position via career edge back in May 2014 for the minimum stipend of $2500 per month.
My internship was extended to February 2015 by my host organization with a 13k increase in pay so my gross jumped to $3575 per month.

Then came February and I had an extension to march 2015 so basically my internship ended today.
I did an amazing job with this company.

Guess what? I have landed a permanent job with them to start in July 2015 with a reasonable pay.
These internships are a great way to start a career as new immigrants to canada and it might just be the foot in the door you need.

For anyone in doubt, I think career edge is doing an amazing job!!

Congratulations. I know its a bit late for that, but nevertheless, it was a very positive story from a new comer.

For me, they asked on my readiness for the canadian employers.
They ask SIN number, PR card number and the dates on PR card.
They also asked me some very basic questions. I would say it was a discussion rather than an interview.

But that was way back in 2013. Now as I hear, a lot has changed in their processes.

yes seems it changed a bit, but nothing to worry about - its still a very basic interview
