Hi Everyone!
Forgive me if this is a stupid question!
Applying for outland common law within the coming weeks. My working holiday visa ends at the end of December. I know that Australians need to have an eta to travel to Canada now, but other than applying for that, will I need to file a visitor extension or do I not need one because I'm from a visa exempt country...
Any help is appreciated!

Visitor extensions (for status, not a visa) are only for people already inside Canada who's initial status is about to expire. Since you're visa exempt, you would only need the eTA to travel to Canada.

That being said, you will have valid status until December from the working holiday visa.

Ah I see. My issue is I'm already living in Canada, so then that means I would need to apply for visitor extension or no? It won't let me apply for an eta because I already have a valid visa. Does that mean I would have to leave the country before it expires, apply for an eta and then wait to see if its approved to come back?
I'm also worried it wont be approved seeing as they asked if you've already applied to remain in Canada and ask for your UCI

No. Before your working holiday visa expires (about 30 days), apply to extend your stay as a visitor within Canada. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend/visa.asp

You don't have to leave Canada to extend your status as a visitor (and it's best not to).
