Hey psychosibes!
we were just wondering the same thing too! Of course part of us wants to think it starts from the document request (and that a few weeks have already passed..=]) but that'd be too good to be true right?
Plus, I think that this "document request" stage only applies to those like us who only sent the simplified aplication to start with. Others (from which they would base their processing times) would have sent their documents straight away, am I right? So if they processed people who didn't go through the simplified application, then their 10 months would start from the moment they receive the docs..(sorry that's really unclear, english is not my mother language=] but it's hard to explain anyway..)
Well your English is better than most British peoples English ! Respect to you.

Hello
so glad to hear about your emails to Ottawa. I am really hoping you are all right and 10 months means that we can hopefully start packing at the end of the year. I just got my final document which was my spanish police certificate, I got it 10 days ago but unfortunately just got back from Madrid, since I was stuck there until today since april 18th due to the Icelandic volcano!!! what a coincidence! good thing my grandmother lives there and didnt cost me much extra.

Now I just need to notarise the docs and translate my police certificate from there and off we go! I cant wait till everything is there!

hi,
I had a very bad experience with DHL since they outsource some areas to other companies and cant really trace it... a package to Eastern USA took 15 days!
My advice is to use Fedex, they are more expensive but they have never failed me. I think that it is worth the extra money for documents like this.

We sent it via Royal Mail and they received it in 14 days (and that was over the Easter period, too). Ok it wasn't trackable...but it did arrive =]

We used Royal Mail 'Airsure' service, guaranteed to arrive in 5 ? or 7 ? working days, and it is trackable. It cost around £13 for us.

Yes, my documents are now with the notary public!
since I had 32 documents to notarise and 2 documents to translate and then notarise, we have to pay the ridiculous amount of £690. I asked for so many quotes and noone was much cheaper than this, and the ones that were did not sound very professional, so... what the heck!
we'd better be accepted, by the time I start adding up application fee, police certif fees, fingerprints, notary public and then medicals, this is going to so costly!
I hope that life in Canada is worth this!

woa..sounds like we were really lucky up here in scotland (although the office lady didn't really realise the amount of signatures we were asking and gave us the quote a bit too quickly ^_^). Anyway, don't regret this, of course life in canada will be worth it! Good luck with your application =]!

We asked the CPP-O about notarizing documents and they replied as follows:-

"Sir/madam,
Thank you for this enquiry, Photocopies of documents will be just fine, unless originals are requested (such as police certificates). Should the need for a notarized copy of an original be necessary, an officer will specifically request it."

So we took their advice and sent un-notarized photocopies. Saved us a fortune.

Finally today I sent off all of my documents!
It should get to them by Friday and I am hoping to get their acknowledgement very soon.
I will share with you if my letter differs with the ones that you shared previously.
I am hoping that everything was spot on!
fingers crossed!

Congrats Edupolo, i think most of Ottawa applicants were pretty quick to send our docs coz i have seen on this forum and other forums weher people usually take 3-4 months to prepare their docs and than send them. I hope we hear something positive very soon from Ottawa.

Yes, I agree that the Ottawa applicantas are being quite quick, I hope the Ottawa case officers are also quick.
My document just arrived via Fedex so I am hopin to get acknowledgment of receipt sometime next week I hope.
I am hoping that no more additional documents are requested, they did not ask for State Police clearance, just FBI (which I sent), but sometimes they may ask at a later state for State Clearances, I hope they dont need them from us, since it is a pain to get them.

Does anyone have any idea on how long we have to wait until medicals are requested? that is the next step right?

by the way, have you realised that the London checklist has changed and they are now asking for proof of employment for spouse/common law. Does this apply to us also? We have only sent the main applicant's work experience documentation but nothing regarding my common law!

Do you think that this is something they will ask us in the future as additional documentation?

Please advise. Thanks.
