Hi guys,

My girldfriend and I are about our application in. My girldfriend is going to sponsor me, we both live outside Canada. After going through the checklist we noticed that an option C is needed. She did requested and it just arrived at her moms home in BC. She asked her mom to open it to see it and her mom said it looks like a photocopy. Nothing looked original . Its asking for an original "option C"...would it be okay if her mom scanned it and we printed it here or will we have to pay $60 to get it expressed.

This would be for 2007 as she did not live in Canada in 08 and only worked 6 months in 07. Does she need to provide an option C.

Please help!! thanks

We are in a similar situation so what we did was get her most recent NOA (2007) and then provided information on how much she has made the past 12 months while being outside canada and attached a letter explaining that the NOA is the latest and an Option C printout for 2008 isnt yet available.

Not sure if that is the correct solution but that's what we did, good luck.

They don't really care about how much the sponsor earns, they want to see that the sponsor hasn't been on any form of social assistance or is bankrupt. From what I understand, the Option C shows that. So if you can, send it. Not sure if Mississauga will accept a photocopy, but you're free to try it. If it's not ok, you will get your application sent back to you.

We sent the Option C for 2007 in february and it was fine. The Option C for 2008 is for most people not yet available, you will be able to get it after April 30th.

Hello,

I was in a similar situation, outland application with myself being out of the country. My sister received the Option-C printout and scanned/emailed it to me. When I talked to the Visa officer she said that the option-C wasn't so important as well.

I printed it and sent it in my application (it looked like a photocopy).

My sponsorship was approved and we are now waiting on the Singapore office.

I'm sure it varies with each visa officer, but it was fine in our case.

Good luck,
Jean

If you have paid your taxes by no, and have not declared yourself as bankcrupt, you can get Option C from CRA. You have to call them to send one to your address.

is there any possible way to send something that can replace the Option C printout if it is not available?

if a sponsored spouse has dependents (kids) is it really necessary to obtain the Option C printout? the matter is that the Option C Printout is not yet available for 2008

thank you

I heard it is available. You can still get the one for the previous year by calling them. Doesn't matter if they have kids or not it is used to determine that they haven't been in receipt of social assistance or have an undischarged bankruptcy. If it can't be obtained than you could provide employment pay stubs or a letter from the employer. If that can't be shown than a letter explaining such. They will still check to see if the sponsor is in receipt of social assistance and for undischarged bankruptcies.

the matter is that the accountant who is charged to do such a job promised to have it done by the end of June - that it too late,
but what other papers can work as a proof for the sponsor hasn't been in receipt of social assistance or have an undischarged bankruptcy if the spouse is self-employed?
I really appreciate your answer.
thank you very much

That's a little late to be filing taxes.. not a very good accountant :) The spouse could explain such that they are self employed and provide maybe a financial statement of such earnings etc. But really if the spouse is sure they are not in receipt of social assistance and not bankrupt than just a letter explaining such should suffice. I did that as I am self employed and living abroad and I was approved as a sponsor with no questions.

Maybe I sound a bit stupid - sorry - but what is the financial statement like? will the letter from the bank with info about spending be sufficient?
what type of letter we need to provide explaining the current situation?
thank you very much

Hey Suin, we never sent my fiances Option C print out. All we send was his T4. Mississauga did not complain. Sponsorship is approved and the file is of to the local CIC office overseas.

Suin.. I think the point you are not getting is.. as there is no financial requirement for this situation nothing really has to be proven other than no social assistance and no bankruptcy. If he/she is self employed just a letter written by the applicant explaining such is enough.

In November of 2009 I went to Rev Can and they printed my Option C while I waited for 2008. Well we did not file till 2010 so a few days before leaving to visit her to bring all our paperwork to finish with her, I went into Rev Can to get my 2009 Option C and they said Oh you have to make an appointment now and we will get it for you in a week or so lol .. So I ended up sending in my actual Notice Of Assessment for 2009. (as that is all a Option C printout is anyways) They returned my original NOA with my letter of Approval of Sponsorship. They appear the same, and well I was approved by sending NOA rather than Option C.
