Open Work Permit and Study Permit at same time?

Hello All,

Please advise.

I am in canada as Forwign worker having specific work permit valid till 2013 and my wife is having Open work permit valid till 2013.
My wife wants to do full time study of one year for which we need study permit.
I tried to apply for study permit Online and one of the question was "When will you leave Canada?".
After study she wants to work as she has WP valid will 2013.
My question is , When we are applying for study permit, will this change the current status i.e. cancel the Work Permit?
Can she have both Work Permit and Study permit at the same time?

If she applies and is given a study permit, it cancels the work permit.

i have the same situation. my wife came to canada on an open work permit but applied for study permit.

but it does not mention that your work permit has been cancelled. she still has the work permit.

Read the restrictions on the study permit. It will say something along the lines of no work authorized.
