I'm assuming that you were asked the expiry date of your statuses and said yes to the questions about restoring your statuses.

The $710 fee that they've quoted is for restoring your statuses as workers: $200 restoration + $200 restoration + $155 work permit + $155 work permit.

As you are restoring to visitors, you only pay the $400.

Thanks for the reply, I guess we will wait for LMIA to come through and restore the statuses as workers when we get it. If we're still waiting for LMIA when it's about to reach the 90 days, we will restore the statuses as visitors. Or do you think we should restore the statuses as visitors immediately and wait for the LMIA?

I would restore status as a visitor immediately. The 90 day grace period CIC gives for restoration does not give any form of legal status in Canada; you and your spouse are out of status, which means you guys are now in Canada illegally.

If and when you are granted restoration of status, it will basically retroactively legalize your stay.
