Hey guys,

Question. For all those who already applied PR and done their medicals;

Have you paid your landing fees in advance?

What's the advantage and disadvantage of paying it in advance? I just finished my medical yesterday and I'm thinking to pay the landing fees (RPRF). Thoughts?
Hi Marianne may I ask what clinic you have done your Medical?

Hello,

I am from Edmonton, AB, so I did my medical at the Heritage Medicentre in Century Park. Initially, I called all 6 physicians in Edmonton and none could get me a booking within 30 days. So we went to the Medicentre to try anyway and I was very very fortunate that someone backed out and I got an appointment the next day.

Seems like all clinics here now are taking appointments in May, at the earliest. And I don't know how that's okay when it says in the CIC form "must undergo medical in 30 days". So I suggest you go to the Medicentre and book in person to see if you may get an earlier appointment.

Mind you, due to the volume of clients, you might end up waiting for a long time while there. My appointment was 2:45 but I ended up leaving at 7:00 PM already. So bring some reading material :)

Thanks for the insight Marianne.. I really appreciate your efforts on sharing this with us as I am from Edmonton too and will be getting an MR soon hopefully.. Cheers!

Heritage Village in Century Park. I guess there's no harm in trying to book earlier, but I am not sure if they will take your booking if you don't have at least an AOR yet. In February maybe they were still available but in remember in March, a new batch of people received AOR's and Medical Requests and might have made them suddenly busy. Based on the people on this forum, they are now working on AOR's for early November applicants. No harm in trying though :)

On a different note, anyone here pay landing fees together with their application? Is it better to pay now or wait for them to request it?

thanks for ur reply marriane! when you book your appointment did they ask you to submit something? or they are just getting the names? i got a bunch of friends who got their pr recently.. they all waited for landing fee request..but i know someone who submitted and pay right away..and she got her papers prior to all my friends..even if they submitted before her..thats why i was surprise and i ask her what did she do..and we figure that that is the only thing she did differently.. so i decided ill pay it right away to. . thanks again!

Thanks for your insight regarding the landing fees, I'm definitely gonna pay it right away knowing that!

In regards to the booking, a family member of mine booked it for me. Since she went there in person, they asked for the paper for the medical request, which you will receive from CIC via e-mail. If you book over the phone, they might ask for your UCI (Unique Client Identifier), which you already have. (You can find this in any of your work/study/temporary resident permits) or they might ask for the application number, which you will get when you receive your AOR. Family member says you have to have the medical request before making an appointment, but my gut tells me you can try anyway.

By the way, I think part of the reason they are busy is also because of the Express Entry applicants. Best of luck to you! If the pace is still the same, when you get your AOR, most likely a week after you will get your medical request too. :)
