Maybe try the next days.. Mine this morning was just my name(sponsor) and tonight can see my husband's name in there now.. By the way how many days should we wait for the 2nd AOR? Or we might just receive a Pr already id we cant receive any 2nd AOR? Am i right? Or kinda confusing... Haha

My name is William.
I'm a canadian presently living with my Argentine wife and two young children in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I am sponsoring my wife outland and just sent the application Friday October 27th. I assume that CIC Mississauga has recieved my application but I can't confirm this as the tracking number for my package mailed in Buenos Aires isn't recognized by Canada Post,,,go figure . Hopefully it arrived safely and that the sponorship approval is as rapid as some I have seen here,,,,,

I added a number of days for stage 1 AOR column in the spreadsheet so we can compare days between stage 1 AOR and sponsorship approval.

Hi,

My husband is a Canadian and I'm from Singapore. We sent our application on 24 Sep '12 and it was received by CIC on 27 Sep '12 and it's already 1 month gone! I read that it would be a long wait before I would actually get my 1st reply or rather notification!

After reading all the postings in this thread, I realised that there is something called "Open Work Permit" (OWP)...can someone advise when can I apply for this and how do I know if I am eligible for it?

Secondly, during these months of waiting before I get a notification, can I travel out of Canada for vacation with my husband? We are planning to go to Cuba and was wondering if I could do that since I also read in this forum that there are people who have problem returning back to Canada and also there are people who are have no problem at all.

Anyone's advice for me is greatly appreciated....

Hi Dawn,

The OWP is only possible for inland applications, and the application for the OWP is usually sent together with the application package. If you are an inland applicant, I do think you could still try to send the OWP application.

I'm not sure about traveling out of Canada... I thought inland applicants weren't able to leave while the application is processed, but I may be wrong.

Inland applicants are able to leave, but if they do not get allowed back in when they try to re-enter Canada, their application is essentially forfeited, as they cannot attend the in-Canada interview. For that reason, it's recommended that inland applicants not leave while the application is in process, especially if they're only on a visitors visa or TRV.

If the application was done outland, you can travel out of Canada with your husband no problem, but you just have to be aware that you may not be let back in. The difference is, even if you're not allowed back in, your application will still process.

I think I sent my application to the wrong address... I didn't use the courier address, I just used the regular mailing address. I hope they recieved it. Do you think this is a problem? The status on canada post said it was delivered. Ahhh. stressing already.

I was checking out the spread sheet and the column for App recieved by CIC,,,,,,,,Is this when you recieve notice from canada post that the application was delivered? If so does it mean the CIC acknowledges receipt of the application about 3 weeks later and then within a week of that they send notification of whether you have been approved to sponser or not? And if you siupplied an email address they will let you know via email?.......

not sure.. but I think if you courier you are meant to use the second one... but I didn't because I didn't notice until after :s

As far as I know the Application recieved portion is when the courier tells you that you package has been delivered.. the AOR is when you recieve an email from CIC saying they have your application.

I was looking again on the CIC web site and still didn't see the option for courier address but I don't think it matters anyway. If canada post acknowledges that the application was delivered to the address you indicated then I would assume it arrived safe and sound, I mailed mine from Buenos Aires using expedited mail with track and trace but it will probably take the same amount of time to arrive as regular mail. The only thing I know is that it has left Argentina (Last friday). Canada post tracking dosn't return any results so I guess it must still be in transit,,,somewhere. Hopefully the process moves along at a good pace. Now that things seem to have speeded up a bit for Sponsership Approval. I wopnder if this means the the second stage will also be quicker.

I don't believe that the speediness of stage 1 approvals has any effect on stage 2 times. I guess it depennds on the VO and what there processing times are. I know the process times in Kingston(my VO) are hideous.
