That's the first mistake. The "VIP" or Champion" status is meaningless. It just goes by the number of posts, even rubbish ones.

Exactly! Some people come here and believe this is their go-to resource or primary source for information; some don't seem to even take the time to read the checklist on the CIC website. I dare to say that's quite lazy and reckless to trust some random strangers on public forums with such important legal matters. They seem to really believe in the illusion of the up-voting and the VIP status.That's why they blame people when something goes wrong.

P.S. some people can be a "Newbie" with 0 up-vote on a particular matter and yet more knowledgeable than a so called VIP.

Unbelievable! My sister’s application received on March 19,2018 and she already got her AOR today march 27

2 weeks used to be the norm up until few months before bill C6 was implemented. Perhaps, we're reaching that state of equilibrium again. But as @paritosh said above, the burden is indeed on the local offices.

Hi.

We (My wife and I ) had our Citizenship test on February 15th in Vancouver. I know for some people, they are told that there will be background check but the officer told us that the next step is that we will be notified for oath date and ceremony. So I'm assuming there is no more background check in our case. My wife's status changed to DM a day after the test, however mine is still in process. Is there anyone similar to my case? What dose it actually mean?

Yes, I have been in process since January 18th (my test date) and no DM yet.

Local offices are really good but we are loosing because we are expacting more as an individual but forum has 800+ Applicants with their Families and I know many of those who applied are not on forum. Volume must be too much. They invites nearly 300K immigrants every year so after certain years they are processing 300K applications in a year. This volume is divided around 30 processing centers which is quite high too.

May be your test is done but something is missong on file. I just dont understand how long it may take to put info on your file. They have even got required docs and forgot to attach on file and waiting for it.

You can get urgent or express service for your first passport.

For urgent processing (meaning you can collect the passport on the 2nd business day after you submitted your application at a passport office) you need proof of travel.
For express pickup (meaning you can collected the passport 2-9 business days after you submitted the application at a passport office) you may be asked for proof of travel, but that is not always the case (I assume they ask for this when there is a spike in requests, so they can prioritise based on need/travel dates).

(There is no expedited service available for passport applications made by mail or at a receiving agent)


(You need to wait two business days after your citizenship ceremony before you can apply for a passport. So that's on the third business day after the ceremony.)

I called and blocked the weeks I will be out of the country. Hopefully, the Oath ceremony will happen either with enough time to get a new passport or after I come back... finger crossed!

If they were making the same statements as the ones in question, totally. People shouldn’t be suggesting that IRCC is targeting Iranians or any other group - unless they have hard facts. In this particular instance, the fact is that the delays have nothing to do with IRCC. So making such statements, especially on a forum like this, is highly inappropriate and damaging.

IRCC can request information from agencies only. They can only take decisions based on information received. They only does 3 things at their offices
1. Open package and process payment while doing completeness check.
2. Conduct the Test
3. Organise Oath Ceremony and issue certificate

Also note calling to IRCC for status is not even work only send web based inquiries. Call center agents may only answer limited things because they are only checking things which we can. They are like receptionist but actual work is being done by someone else so no need to waste time.

IRCC don’t conduct the background checks. CSIS do. There is no time limit on the check - it’ll take as long as it’ll take.

If people want to make inflammatory comments with no basis on a public forum - they should expect people to respond accordingly. I don’t overly care about what you think of me but I think it’s important that what’s posted here is accurate. The statements being made were not accurate - which is why I’ve continued this discussion.
