Obtaining work permit once PR approved

Does anybody know how a work permit is obtained, and how quickly it is issued after arrival with PR status in Canada?

You don't need a work permit once you have PR. You just need your permanent social insurance number. Just bring your id/docs to a Service Canada office. It's a very quick process. They will give you a paper with your new SI number.

Just to add if the OP has not yet landed then it is possible to apply for a SIN at the airport when landing if there is a Service Canada desk open there..
