In that case, your application will be treated as a non-precedent case. It would take he Alliance a bit longer to complete your credentialing as they will need to ascertain not only the content, but the recognition status of your institution. That could take a long time. The most important advice is to ensure that your school sends as much comprehensive details of your course work as possible. Where there are differences between list of courses on the transcript and the curriculum, they need to send in extra clarification otherwise this may delay your credentialing further or may led to some of your courses not getting the due credit/recognition and my negatively impact on your eligibility.

The plan is to complete the whole process (exam and licensing) before our final relocation next year. I am booked for the 1st stage (written exam) for November. With God's help and hopefully some more preparation I will pass and then work towards the clinical exam in the early quarter of 2013. There I no major pressure for me to move on from my current job and it would work better if there is a direct transition from my current practice to my intended practice in Canada. That said, everything will depend on the outcome of the exam.

It is very difficult to say if her case will expedite your case; but it may serve as a reference point for them and more importantly for you as her experience in terms of what additional documents etc were requested from her will help to focus your effort when compiling your own document to send to the Alliance. It will also help you as a rough guide in terms of what deficiencies (if applicable) you may have to cover. The NPTE exam book as you can see from the name applies to the American Physical Therapist exams but people have used it over the years as preparatory material for the Canadian exam. As I am currently neither in the US or Canada I didn't have to use it where I currently practice but I am very familiar with the book.

Not intending to be prescriptive or preemptive of anything, but I'll say it's probably a little early to start worrying about the exam and what materials to use. I'll advice you get started with the credentialing and you might be surprised how much background work/course contents you might have to cover before you can start worrying about the exam. This of course is entirely my opinion, you are free to chose your approach as it suits you.

Hi physios,
I am a physio wants to joint this forum, applied in june2011, changed cease status to Inprocess on 12/03/2012. Hope to receive MR soon.
I have a question from seniors should we apply for credentials after medicals or after landing in Canada to start working as a physiotherapy assistant to gain some Canadian experience as that is not yet regulated and then apply for credentials?
Thanks

Hi Tawakal,
I don't think we require credential evaluation for PTA position, but it is better to start credentialing process as it is time consuming process....I am waiting for MR, once I complete my MR I will start credential process.

Physios, I just want to say this, if you have the chance to come into Canada, pls do esp if you have the authority to sit for the PCE and understand their own context of physio.
if you are in Alberta, you are allowed to work as an assistant and this gives you so much exposure to the system here and working full time as an assistant exempts you from some modules by The Alliance. All the best

Thanks Johny and dreamteam for your reply, I am also waiting for my MR like you and once get MR will apply, however I am fully convinced by dreamteam that working as a assistant will be very helpful initially, but please do tell me why did you mention about Alberta, is this different if you work in other provinces?
Secondly I have a question regarding IELTS exam, Do the Alliance just need overall 7 band or 7 in each of it's component?
