What does that mean? Do I need to get between 7.5-9.0 in listining, 6.5-9.0 in speaking, 6.5-9.0 in reading and 6.5-9.0 in writing to be get the high score?

They have increased the points for listening from 7.0 to 7.5 and reduced the points for the rest of the categories by 0.5. So this is a good news not bad.

Take notice though that is says "Test score equivalency chart (applications received or test reports dated after November 28, 2008)" so for somebody who already applied and sent in their IELTS, it will not change anything.

Great to hear that they have reviewed the scoring of the IELTS, however is this a requirement for an English first language speaking individual?
Reason I ask is that I've received different views. Some individuals noting that it is not a requirement, yet others note that unless I undergo the testing my application may be delayed.

If English is your first language, you don't need IELTS. It is only people whose first language is not English but are trying to claim English knowledge by other means that CIC will probably send for IELTS anyway.

what about the gaps in the points?
in the old system ther was no gaps.
i.e. what if some one has 5.2 or 5.3 or 7.1 or 7.4 in Listening?
or what if some one has 4.6 or 4.8 in Reading,? an so on

Hi

Actually the point system of IELTS are done according to half points so there is no case of 5.1 or 5.2

Cheers
