So Do you think this one is easier than IELTS comparatively
I did both tests before. I think IELTS test is easier, as well, the scale is more detailed so it is easier to reach the level requested by CIC.

Always better to go with something which is tried and tested. You have lots of study material available for IELTS which is a good source to rely on. There are lot many applicants who have cleared IELTS and new aspirants can benefit from their experience.

I think IELTS is easier. You also have more resources for IELTS v.s. the new CELPIP.

thx for this ! anyone tried CELPIP?
So far, I haven't heard of anyone taking it! Even at my language school here in Vancouver, we haven't received any CELPIP books so we can teach it.

I took this test before. It is not easier than IELTS, and i think it is actually harder in the speaking part.
If I would compare my CLB scores on CELPP vs IELTS I got one level up through IETLS on almost all categories (9,9,8,8) vs CELPIP (8,8,7,8). So, i would definitely go with IELTS.

Could you please share your experience of CELPIP exam in terms of reading and writing parts.

I heard that CELPIP exam has 2 hours to manage reading and writing both.

Yes, sure. I think the main difference is that at CELPIP all testing is done in front of the computer, including the speaking test.
I would say that reading and writing assignments are easier in CELPIP (although i did get higher grade at IELTS), while speaking test was particularly hard for me due to several reasons:
1. Talking with a computer
2. Recording time limit
Listening is comparable and overall i find it is easier to mark the answers on PC then paper.

That said, my opinion is that the less detailed grade scale in CELPIP makes its harder to achieve high CLB scores

Thanks sashali78 for prompt response. In fact, I had done the IELTS exam and got the lower band 5 only.
So, I am thinking to apply CELPIP exam.

I need a CLB-7 for applying immigration - PR file under CEC category. Kindly share some more information such as speaking questions as well as in reading they are allowing control+f keyword to search word. :)

Or you can send me mail akash_in_canada@yahoo.ca
