I was also asked for docs and was given one month time for submission and within that timeframe there was change in my status, ie. from app rcvd to in process.

Lucky U .. I sent my docs on 27th August and still waiting for any reply.. may I know what docs did they request from you 2 .. I have been asked for post marriage communication proof.

If you sent it only few days ago, it might be possible that they have not placed the passport in your file just yet. So, they could think they have not received it yet, even though it's in their office waiting to be placed.

It was sent in August right after they requested it.

Do what smvi suggested. Email them and then send in snail mail with all the proof you have.

They asked me for actual traditional marriage ceremony photographs.

Hey friend !!

I would try my best to answer your questions:

1. I am not sure about this but I think this should show ur son's name too. You can call CIC customer care for it.

2. Congrats for stage I approval and don't worry about "in process" at first stage. Its quite normal.

3. Next step would be Passport Request, which your wife would receive via email or snail mail. Generally it comes after 3 weeks, file is sent to delhi office.

4. And about " Null" means you didn't mention surname for your wife in the application. And it is taking null as first name and your wife's name as surname.

That's all about it. Hope it helped. And you can take advice from Other members too

Thanks for your answers April_19. And I have the following comments to make:

1) The initial acknowledgement email that I received from them mentions both my wife and sons name. But after that in the file transfer letter and on the CIC status website only shows my wife's name. But they do mention it as "family member(s)" in the letter.

Also I had sent an application fee of CAD 1115 and they have refunded back CAD 415.00 to me. They did not give any reason for this. I am getting worried now.

Please can anyone here tell me if they are sponsoring their wife and dependent child and did the Canadian authorities mention the child's name also in every document along with the wife's name?


4) Regarding the null before my wife's name, my wife has 2 words in her name..a first name and a last name and I have correctly filled that in the forms. So still not sure what "null" means.

how do u do that? LOL. pretty muchh every one uses calling cards or skype video calls. i actually made a point of it and mentioned it in mine application so that it does not causes any hindrance with the application. errrr.. are they asking for proof of communication before or after marriage?

but my question is, are we allowed to work before receiving the PR card?

when you arrive at iimigration at airport. the staff will stamp on ur passport and attach a document called landing paper. form xyz. keep it safe as u will need it in future. after that they will automaticaly enter details for you to issue you PR card. you should ask them about this if they do not tell u.. you will be eleigible to apply for health card after 90 days. as for sin card. you can go to service ontario same day if you want to and it will be issued instantly. open up bank account and yes. do make sure you get a credit card. td bank offers $500 limit card . u can request the staff to issue a $1000 limit. take two credit cards. in my opnion take 1 visa and 1 master card. u will need it for building ur credit should u wish to establish urself by borrowing from bank. do not get in any contract with any telephone company. its crazy here. u will see it when u come here. there are few horror stories. make sure you make a full long list of things that you can say are going to follow on a later date. like house hold stuff, you can say furniture, glasses, curtain, rugs u name it. especially jwellery. then it becomes duty free. message me if you need more info..
