The residency obligations are that you must spend 730 days in Canada in your first 5 years as a PR and in any 5 year period after that. 730 days equals 2 years so that means you are allowed to stay outside Canada up to 1095 days (3 years) in that 5 year period. Therefore, 1.5 years will not be a problem.

You can find this here on the CIC website:

If you have been a permanent resident for Five (5) years or more

you must have been physically present in Canada for a minimum of 730 days within the past five (5) years.

If you have been a permanent resident for less than five (5) years

you must show that you will be able to meet the minimum of 730 days physical presence in Canada at the five (5)-year mark.

As per the Canadian Documentation

It is True That to keep your Permanent Resident Status

1) you must be physically present in Canada for 730 Days ie 2 Years Cumulative in a Five Year Period.

BUT
It is also True that

You may Loose your Permanent Residant Status if

1) You are Gone from Canada for more than 730 Days ie 2 Years cumulative in a Five Year Period..

So you cannot stay outside Canada for more than 2 years in a row in a 5 Year Period too.... So I Think 1.5 years out of Canada Continuous is OK.

Do what you want. Like I said before, 1.5 years is really not a problem. You can stay outside for up to 3 years.
