Mistake with the Date, PR Extension

I am going to extend my PR card soon.

I have the problem with the date I indicated in the Customs Declaration Card.

I immigrated to Canada on Nov. 27, 2010, got my PR and left Canada on Dec. 07, 2010. I arrived my home country on Dec. 08, 2010 and got arrival stamp into my passport.

The next arrival to Canada was on Dec. 14, 2012. While filling in the Customs Declaration Card, I made the mistake and wrote that the last Date Left Canada was Dec. 15, 2010. In reality I left on Dec. 07, 2010. When I had immigration control, the officer put me the stamp into the passport and wrote that I was absent since Dec. 15, 2010.

Now I am going to extend my PR card and I am confused which date to indicate. The one that shows that I arrived my home country on Dec. 08, 2010 according to the stamp of my home country or Dec. 15, 2010 as indicated on Canadian arrival stamp by the officer and in the Customs Declaration Card.

As I know, the officer verifies all stamps while PR extension procedure and requires translation.

Please, kindly advise me what to do.

Use the correct dates, regardless of what was written by hand in the passport. If for any reason you have to prove dates, only the real one will be provable.

Thanks a lot! How do you think should I submit some kind of written explanation of the inconsistency with the dates? Or just indicate the correct date according to the stamp as you advised.

I agree.

You can always provide a letter of explanation with the application for precaution — indicating both the correct date, as well as providing a letter of explanation so CIC knows what happened.
