Woo! I was actually looking for a May Applicant forum!

We sent our application through post from Ireland on May 6th 2014, and they received my spoonsorship package on Tuesday the 13 of May. My husband completed his medicals in Ireland January 24th 2014. And if I'm not mistaken, if he gets approved for PR than he has to enter Canada before the 24th of January, which luckily is one day away from my birthday. I'm hoping and praying all goes well and I can celebrate my birthday with my husband by my side and we can move on and enjoy the rest of our lives together! Ps, can I be added to the spreadsheet?

We are applying Outland from the London VO. I was so nervous and excited. Both my husband and I are. I'm more anxious and nervous than he is. Is there any reason why Missisauaga would deny sponsorship? I mean I've never been in trouble with the law, been arrested, never been on welfare. Our application is pretty straight forward and even though my husband did get arrested in Canada, the issue of assault didn't get him a criminal record or conviction. He just needs to keep the peace for a year (September 2014) and than all the info should be gone. He answered that truthfully and put in documents to verify all that. He even called the people who deal with that in Canada and they told him he shouldn't have any issues since he's not a criminal or has a conviction.

Maybe I am just being a worry wart! But I hope I get approved because I have to leave my husband and go back to Canada in June and than we have to wait for him to hopefully get approved for PR.

fingers crossed for everyone and I wish everyone the best of luck!

welcome Ms.Purcy! :) click the link in my signature and add yourself. anyone can edit the spreadsheet.

you're lucky that you can stay with your husband! mine left on may 1st :( Romania is not visa exempt so getting a TRV after applying for PR? .. almost impossible.. but your husband can come with you to Canada during the processing, Ireland is visa exempt :)

as for the arrest.. i dont have experience on that , maybe you should ask that in the main thread here , seniors know better. but i hope it won't be a problem for him.

and yeah worrying is mandatory with CIC, lol :D i still have the feeling that i forgot something or who knows

Hello!

Joining in, at last! We sent my American common-law partner's application in today. He lives in BC with me and is here with a work permit under the NAFTA visa. So glad to finally have the application submitted and be able to begin the count-down.

ps - congrats our 3 newest thread-buddies!
btw jmanuelcahill: I'm sure you're already on top of this but thought I'd point out... i think your medicals will need to be redone - needs to be within 1 year of LANDING (from what I've read on here.) It's unlikely you'll land before september 23... just thought I'd give you a heads up in case this (one of a gazillion) rules slipped by you. I myself didn't know it till halfway thru process.

good luck all!

this is not necessarily true. yes, the medical is only valid for a year FROM THE DATE THEY ARE COMPLETED, however CIC has the ability to EXTEND the medical to help the PR get through landing. I would not recommend redoing the medicals until CIC advises you to. They are pricey, and it could be a waste of money, as well as confuse CIC when 2 results are in the system.

ah rhcohen illuminates things yet again! what i said on another thread about being on fire lol...

i figured it's from date complete... but did not realize CIC could extend. i'm glad I know this now... do you know how likely CIC is to extend medicals? i read so many posts on here panicking about them expiring and needing to redo

it's a topic near to my heart bc we're hoping to be pregnant mid-application and wouldn't want to be hung of not able to get xray, etc....

lol... yes your compliments crack me up! i tried to give you a +1, but i've used up my karma points for you, and need to wait! :p

i have no idea how likely it is. my knowledge comes from this forum really. from what i've read, it's most common with visa-exempt applicants, and the officer handling your case (as always), and if your expiration date is close enough to getting approved. CIC will certainly notify the applicant if they need to be redone, so save the money until they tell you for sure! I'm sure if you get pregnant, and they request a new medical, you can ask CIC to consider extending since you will not be able to get an xray.

jjoon, I did my medicals in May 2013 but did not mail in my application until February 2014. As soon as we got our SA and my file had been transferred to Ottawa, I emailed Ottawa to inquire about the status of my medicals (more out of concern because I found out in the meantime that the medical office where I took the exam had closed). They replied within a week said they have it on file and that they put in a request to extend it. I'm not sure how often they do this but it was worth my 15min to email them to get that update. Bottom line is, I agree with rhcohen to sit back and wait until CIC specifically asks you to redo your meds.

I will be applying soonest but trying to gather information. i can't remember the date of birth of my parents and they are not around now to contact them. what do u guys think i can do. should i leave the space blank or put "*" sign as indicated in the guide? Can this affect my application. Any advise will be highly appreciated

One more post after this one and I can edit my details. ^^

So, I'm correct in assuming that it could take about 40 days from our application received in Mississauga for us to be confirmed for the first step (the AOR), right? My wife is a little panicky because she read online someone's AOR (assuming she meant AOR) came within 3 days of the application being received. Hm. Maybe that was for a different step...

it's definitely longer than 40 days right now, even though the site is saying 40. i'm not sure what your wife is referring to, as that is definitely not the case. someone who's file was delivered on 3/28 JUST got AOR today, and still waiting for SA. there has been a backlog since march, so it seems they are still catching up. AOR and SA seem to come within days of eachother, if not the same day. I got my AOR on a friday, and my SA on that monday.

it's at 44 days now :( first time i ever checked , months ago, it was 28 days ... this sucks.. we also have the quebec step so mooore time to wait... ugh ..

is it just me or we're not so many in may? yumyumhungry add yourself too ;) (lol your username is easy to remember :p)

and yeah jjoon they do extend medicals sometimes, not sure it will be my case tho (non-visa exempt country). even if i did my medicals just before sending the app (1 week or so), i can't hope to have the visa by april 2015. well that should be the case but i don't wanna get my hopes up :( as we can all see there's a backlog for the first approval so ...

immigration is definitely the ultimate test of patience. you also get super expert in paperwork 8)

Yeah we don't seem like a lot that have applied here in May lol. I also noticed it was 44 days. I just hope I get approved before I leave my husband here in Europe and go back to toronto to wait for to hopefully return! I hope all of us have a speedy process.
