Reading those replies about RQ based on the travel history in/out Canada. I travel due to work and vacation. I do enjoy my time spending overseas when I am on vacation.

If we travel outside the country, does that mean that we will get RQ?

It is our legal right to travel and noone can legally stop that.
I traveled 23 times during the 4-year period of my citizenship application. I got no RQ and already got my citizenship. It took 15 months for the entire process from citizenship application to Oath.

But .... I sent tons of additional paper that were not required at that time. OHIP records, T4's, Taxes Notice of assessments, salary slips, credit card statements for me and mywife, passport photo copy with translated stamps. Everything that would prove that I live in Canada even though it was not requested. I guess those may have helped me not to get an RQ.

Definitely, otherwise CIC would have slap you with almighty RQ. I think people that are frequent travellers and unemployed should provide all the doc you stated this will limit the chances of getting RQ.

  • AOR = Acknowledgement of Receipt
  • LOT = Local Office Transfer
  • RQ = Residence Questionnaire

Looks like CIC doesn't have any issue with extra documents with original application. Myself and many other applicants had an idea that extra documents may make the office suspicious. Looks like we were wrong.

I tried many times to convince you guys that sending extra documents is beneficial but no one believed me. I sent my NOA , employment letters and had my translated passport stamps and CBSA repor at the interview. The officer response when I showed her the CBSA report " oh that is lovely". I became a Canadian citizen 2 1/2 months ago. The whole process took about 7 months.

Careful with the CBSA report, nowadays (as of May 2014) the citizenship application form explictly request that you do not request the CBSA report. Not that you have to comply though
