I landed on Friday 14th December.
To all the people on this forum, I can't thank you enough for your support and encouragement. And to those who are pending word from the office, i hope the recent changes for Open work permits will help you. I know if i'd been waiting still, i would have stressed a lot less with that back-up plan.
My story is thus:
- Applied March 30 as the Principal applicant and i have no one accompanying me. I'm also from a visa exempt country. Maybe that helped. My IELTS scores was pretty much perfect (native english speaker) and i had worked in a a few different management positions including retail supervisor and in construction management.
- Received my AOR and immediately e-mailed a scan of some old paystubs that could have helped my application. was never asked for the originals though.
- Got the Med request and had it done two days after getting the request. I chased up my doctors office to see when they were sending it and got a tracking number. It was sent a week after i took the tests.
- Got my PPR. I photocopied every single page and my work permit, attached photos, got a money order in canadian dollars from the post office. included the checklist and the separate note about my height and eye colour. Included a prepaid reply xpresspost from the windsor address and submitted the whole thing in an xpress post envelope to the Windsor PO box address.
- Received my COPR and did a happy dance.
- Drove to the peace arch crossing and waited in line at the US border. They were super polite and helpful and gave me paperwork to flagpole and return to Canada.
- At canadian border waited some more then was asked a bunch of questions by a polite and friendly officer. She confirmed my postal address and had me wait a few minutes. Then my name was called, she congratulated me and that was it. I landed.
