I am accepted in to two colleges. One in Manitoba which is a one year program and the other one is in Toronto which is a two years program.

Which one to choose? I am looking for easy PR and low on budget.

Can anyone guide if one year PGWP is safe for Manitoba?

If you are thinking about PR, u should go for 2 years program.

One year course is too short time to prepare immigration. If you have low budget, you are better to ask some support to your parents.

Especially, chinese students come to Canada with their parents' support. They tend to more successuful due to stable finaincial support and hard working.

Dont misunderstand about my words. That;s just my opinion. (I am not chinese, but I saw many chineses are coming to Canada)

Manitoba is better if you are looking for PR. You will get one year PGWP after one year study and can get it extended later on.

Thank you guys. Two different opinions. Problem is that there are very few two years programs in Manitoba. Red River college is good but i don't have required IELTS for red river. Only college which have 2 years programs.

living in MB would be less expensive .
it is hard to say which province is easy to apply for PR. (I would say case by case)
I know someone who easily apply for PR and got it, also someone who took years to get it...

1. There is no way to extend PGWP directly.

I meant work permit....After working 6 months ..one can apply for MPNP...which gets approve within 2-3 months or at least before PGWP expires. Manitoba government provides support letter for work permit to help an applicant continue working with the same/new employer. One can also get open work permit if have already received AOR. So, eventually we can get our work permit extended during our PNP/PR process.

That's called bridging open work permit. Not PGWP.

well thats risky what if someone cant find a job right away after graduation. its always better to go for 3 year PGWP. be it 2 years course or 1yea +1 year =2 years course its always good to get 3 years PGWP

Yes, I know that and I did not mean PGWP extension anyway.

My point was only to say that one can continue working after graduation and during the process of PNP/PR (without running out of status) as there are some ways to extend work permit/get a new work permit (open or close LMIA/LMIA exempt) and while being in Manitoba one can get support letter whereas Toronto PNP has stopped issuing support letters.

Well yes you are right. It is risky. All depends on someone's skills and education. One can try to find a job first (within 1-2 months of graduation) and then apply for PGWP (PGWP will be valid for one year from the date of Issue).

And..I am not forcing him to go for one year program ..just telling that there are ways to get work permit extended if he only wants to go for one year program and wants to get easy PR.

I know many students who moved from Ontario to Manitoba after completing 2 years study and it is not the best option comparing to studying in Manitoba because Students who study outside of Manitoba

1. Will have to have 1 year work experience rather than 6 months.
2. MPNP deducts some points (during PNP process) for studying outside of MB.
3. PNP Application takes more time - applicant gets interview call most of the time.

Overall it is best if someone comes directly to Manitoba rather than Ontario (Regardless of completing one or two years study program).

Again it depends on person to person. If someone has completed higher education/Bachelors in home country already and going for Masters/PHD then there are some good options in ON too.

Lastly, I hope whom we are giving suggestions will consider all facts and decide accordingly.
